I Didn't Die Today Either, Mother

If the title caught your attention, you will likely be disappointed.

Let us say that upfront.

This is an article about an ordinary workplace accident and dying while working.

Turn back while you still can.

For many years, I have been conducting research on workplace accidents in the construction sector.

Despite all the interventions made and the effort put in, the desired success has not been achieved.

The large construction firms, which make up five percent of the sector, have solved the problem because they act very sensitively regarding accidents.

However, the vast majority of the rest still operate with traditional models and cannot solve the issue of workplace accidents.

In the heart of Istanbul, 29 workers lost their lives in a fire that broke out during renovation construction.

Young, beautiful children, in the prime of their lives, died while working to earn their daily bread.

Those responsible seem likely to get away with it by classifying the incident as a workplace accident and being charged with causing death by negligence.

In fact, they should be tried under the penal code for intentional homicide and murder.

No one receives a deterrent sentence for causing death by negligence.

Let us come to our main topic.

We have created a new training module to prevent workplace accidents.

We are preparing new training material using the art of caricature to increase perception and sensitivity.

For this, we are organizing a caricature competition and workshop on the subject of workplace accidents.

All details regarding the subject can be found in the lines below.

The International Construction Accidents Cartoon Contest, organized to draw attention to workplace accidents occurring in the construction sector, to reveal the seriousness of the issue with the help of cartoons, and at the same time to increase awareness by prompting sector employees to think, is waiting for the works of participants.

The purpose of the competition is summarized as follows:

The construction sector is known as one of the most dangerous sectors in terms of work. One of the most important problems in the construction sector is workplace accidents that occur on construction sites, which cause worker deaths and serious injuries.

Besides these, economic losses, productivity, and a bad reputation are other important aspects of the business. The main purpose of this competition is to reveal the importance of workplace accidents occurring in the construction sector with the help of cartoons and to increase awareness by prompting sector employees to think.

Within the scope of the event, leading business people of the sector will attend the "Construction Accidents Cartoon Exhibition" to be held on October 24, 2024, and will give speeches at the "Workplace Accidents" Panel. Prof. Dr. Gökhan Arslan, International Cartoon Competition, will be held by 24 October 2024.

Information for the competition can be accessed at the following web address:
