Dr. Necdet Bulut was assassinatedon December 8, 1978.

In the field of computer science at Purdue Universitywhere he completed hismaster's and doctoral degrees.Returning

from Purdue in 1974,Bulut became an academic at METU.

He stands among Turkey's rare academics; and in the history of informatics,he carried out pioneering work.He was a scientist who left a mark with his work.

As the first person to earn a doctorate in the field of computer science inTurkey, Dr. Bulut was continuing his research on computertechnologies.Had he not been killed, he could have been Turkey's Steve Jobs or Bill Gates.
