Oh God, what was my sin: Our great sin

I have been traveling for years for my academic work.

I have been to America, Japan, and everywhere in between.

I have already made Europe my second home.

During these travels, alongside academic and cultural comparisons, I have also made economic ones.

I used to think about how cheap my beautiful homeland was.

A hamburger I ate for 10 dollars was 4-5 dollars in Turkey.

And it was of better quality, too.

There are many more similar examples.

However, in recent years, the situation has changed.

News stories comparing prices constantly pop up on my social media feed. Heads of trade and tourism chambers are making statements one after another, saying that Turkey is now too expensive and tourists are not coming.

The pasta I eat in Zurich, the hub of bankers, is more expensive in Turkey.

Let me not drag this out and instead try to find the answer to how we ended up in this state.

What sin did we commit that we can no longer afford to eat a meatball sandwich in our paradise of a country, or that a doner kebab which costs 5 dollars in Geneva has become 10 dollars in Turkey?

In Islam, what constitutes a major sin is determined according to various verses and hadiths.

Some of the acts considered major sins are as follows:

Associating partners with God (shirk),

Killing a person unjustly,

Killing oneself, committing suicide,

Committing adultery and sodomy,

Major sins in Judaism:

Taking God's name in vain,

coveting another's property,

disrespecting one's mother and father.

The number of major sins in Christianity is stated as seven.

These sins are described as "deadly" because they lead to other sins.

These are

pride,

lust,

envy,

gluttony,

greed,

sloth,

and wrath.

Oh God, what was my sin, where, where, where did I go wrong!
