Prayer workshop at high school

As part of the ÇEDES Project, a practical prayer workshop has been launched at Kirami Refika Alemdaroğlu Anatolian High School in Ankara, supervised by teachers.

An official from the Eğitim-Sen Ankara No. 2 Branch stated,

“The secular and scientific structure of education is being targeted through regulations and protocols implemented in the education system. Students are being subjected to religious impositions in schools that have been turned into virtual nests for religious sects, straying from the true purpose of education. The government also wants to transform schools into institutions that raise ‘vengeful and religious generations’ through these practices.”

This mindset is a shackle on the children of the Republic who strive to keep the secular Republic of Turkey standing.

I will not delve into the philosophical dimension, but in all civilized countries of the world, religious education is provided under state supervision.

Even if the styles differ, children learning certain theological concepts and being guided in this process by teachers who have received university education, rather than by the obscure types we frequently encounter on social media, does not bring harm; on the contrary, it brings beauty.

Bringing forth the Luthers is only possible by consciously bringing more educated people closer to religious and theological affairs. This could help us reach the level of prosperity achieved by continental Europe.

Ultimately, just because children perform two rak'ahs of prayer in a mosque, we do not drift away from modernity, nor do we get any closer to heaven.
