There used to be a concept called “for the people, despite the people.”
The government would say: “We are actually working for the welfare of the citizens, but the public doesn't understand it for now; when the time comes, they will pray for us.”
Years passed. When prosperity didn't reach the public, but only the government's inner circle, the public got confused.
And what happened when they got confused?
Did they wake up?
Hardly…
Now, it seems the bridges and roads built by Süleyman and Turgut are going to be privatized.
Using the ones built recently is already incredibly expensive.
Now, the cheap ones built in the past are going to be privatized, and their prices will be raised to the level of build-operate-transfer (or rather, build-operate-transfer-to-them). Lightning McQueen!
Yet, while they said the bridges would be built with the Build-Operate-Transfer model without a penny coming out of our pockets, even what we had is now gone.
I hope our noble people don't wake up this time either, so we can get rid of the crowds on both the bridges and the roads.
When the toll for the Eurasia Tunnel became five times that of the bridge, the riffraff headed for the bridge, and thank God, our wealthy citizens found relief.
Now they cross to the other side with pleasure, without getting stuck in traffic, through the Eurasia Tunnel.
I hope that with this privatization, the bridge toll will be equalized with the Eurasia Tunnel so that the riffraff won't use the bridges either. This way, our wealthy citizens can cross the bridge while enjoying the view, instead of going through the tunnel like mice.
That is exactly how you provide service to the people, despite the people.
