Turkey's university policies and communist China

Years ago, after finishing university, I went to America for my master's and doctoral studies. I won't go into too much detail. 

Let me get straight to the point.

There were students from every nation similar to me. 

Especially in doctoral programs. For some reason, I rarely encountered American students.

There were also quite a few foreign students among the undergraduate students.

 Students from countries outside the G8 were working heart and soul to transfer knowledge.

There were also a considerable number of foreign professors among the academics.

Chinese, Bangladeshi, Turkish, Indian.

Nearly 30 years have passed, and Turkey has reached a similar situation.

Especially our newly established universities and foundation universities have become overflowing with foreign students.

Some of our newly established state universities have reached a point where they would be almost empty if it weren't for foreign students.

The situation is even more dire in doctoral programs.

I see academics looking for doctoral students on social media.

I can't find any either.

Turks have reached a point of near-zero interest in doctoral programs.

There is only one thing left to do.

To open our doctoral programs to foreign students, just like America did.

To expand the field through inter-country agreements.

To provide scholarships.

We could be a source of hope, especially for the poor children of the Muslim geography.

Muslim Bangladesh with 250 million people, Pakistan with 250 million, Indonesia with 300 million, and India, which hosts a Muslim population of 30 million, could be target countries in particular.

Some African countries could also be added to the list.

The Turkic Republics, however, should be our primary target point.

Years ago, America's rural universities, which were on the verge of closing, flourished following the agreement Nixon made with Communist China in 1972, even during the Cold War era.

Thousands of Chinese students flocked to American universities for higher education, and the result is clear.

Almost all of the universities in the top 100 are American.

They are far ahead in terms of publications, patents, and projects.

Turkey can also pave the way for its universities by trying a similar path.

Otherwise, we will start writing disaster scenarios for the future.
