We have grown accustomed to the jungle

I have been in Lithuania for four days. We are holding an Erasmus project meeting at a middle-class university in the capital, Vilnius.

I have written about this before, but I cannot help but write about it again.

How can a country be this calm?

Incredibly serene streets, a crystal-clear river flowing with a gentle murmur.

Faculties built along the riverbank, resembling buildings from the early republican era.

Everyone is moving slowly toward their intended destination.

There is no one shouting or calling out anywhere.

Traffic is almost non-existent.

Aside from a few simple honks, there is neither a sound nor a breath to make one uneasy.

You have trouble waking up in the hotel because there is no clatter or noise around.

The human profile is quite sterile.

They have not received a share of the migration from Africa or the Middle East.

A simple Baltic city.

I think the Baltic triplets—Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia—are all more or less the same flavor.

Like the old Turkey.

A family country. Everyone resembles each other in their behavior.

There is no one uneducated around.

They have preserved the old city.

Cute, 2-3 story houses lined up along narrow streets.

All the old buildings have undergone renovation and have been restored.

While it is impossible to see even a single loose stone on the sidewalks or roads, it would be accurate to say I didn't even see a cigarette butt.

For the money we paid for the melt-in-your-mouth meat we ate at a first-class restaurant, you could barely buy two chicken doner kebabs in Turkey.

Tea and coffee are practically free. You pay the price with the loose change in your pocket.

Their cheese pastries are in their original taste, just like those of the old Turkey that our "Second Republican" sisters dislike and even insult.

While eating the goat cheese one, you can almost hear the bleating of the goat as it was being milked.

The flavor is superb.

They haven't let corn syrup into their kitchens.

We ate both cheap and high-quality food.

In short, let us stay one more day before returning to the jungle to undergo rehabilitation until our next visit.
