We say it doesn't work, the ASO President says it, and it still doesn't work

For a long time, much has been written and drawn about brain drain.

There are many intellectuals who ponder this issue, hoping to stop the brain drain.

At one point, an important rector of one of our important universities called this nonsense "brain circulation," and while he may have been carrying water to the foreigner's mill, consciously or unconsciously, the result was not so.

A nomadic brain never worked like a settled brain.

The brains that fled from us only became technicians for the foreigner. Let a few flashy examples not mislead us.

No one can be a king in someone else's homeland.

The super-intelligent young people who were in the top twenty thousand in the country could not go beyond being family doctors in the forest villages of Germany.

"We are exporting doctors and engineers; we are importing shepherds"

Ankara Chamber of Industry (ASO) President Seyit Ardıç explained the situation in Turkey to young people at a Career Fair: "Our qualified youth and our workforce are migrating. In 2023, 290 thousand people went abroad, an increase of 110%. Syrians, Afghans, and Iraqis have arrived."

ASO President Seyit Ardıç spoke as follows at the meeting at Çankaya University:

"According to TUIK data, the number of Turkish citizens who went abroad from Turkey in 2023 increased by 110% compared to the previous year, exceeding 290 thousand. Among them are our doctors and our engineers.

On the other hand, we are the country that receives the most immigrants in the world. Who is migrating to our country? Syrians, Afghans, Iraqis... These people generally work in agriculture and livestock.

So, when we look at it, we are exporting doctors and engineers; we are importing shepherds. Everyone talks about the current account deficit, right? Well, this is actually the most dangerous current account deficit. The most dangerous one is the current account deficit we have in our human capital, in our human resources."

Mr. President, they think that if they don't take you seriously, they won't take us seriously either, and that is why we are writing and pondering in this virtual world. We say it doesn't work, the ASO President says it, and it still doesn't work.
