Who is a Muslim?

Of course, I do not possess the theological knowledge to answer this question.

But as a Muslim, I must have an answer, even if it is a simple one.

The answer is: A Muslim is one who has a conscience.

However, it seems that Muslims have been experiencing a significant identity crisis in recent years.

They are experiencing it so much that non-Muslims have begun to fear Muslims.

The reason for this fear is certainly not their zero contribution to the industrial revolutions.

The impact of the blood and tears in Muslim geographies and the short videos of brutal massacres are among the primary reasons.

The resistance shown by Muslims who migrate to the West at the cost of their lives regarding integration is another cause for fear.

These reasons have not only alarmed the West but even the Japanese in the far East, to the point where strange animations portraying Islam as dangerous have started appearing in my feed.

Then, the news below regarding a Japanese parliamentary decision—which would deny Muslims even a burial plot on the Japanese islands—evoked a feeling that we, as Muslims, need to think more carefully.

The fact that nearly 99 percent of cemeteries in Japan are used by people of Buddhist and Shinto faith has led Muslims to need a new Muslim cemetery. As the issue was carried to the Japanese Parliament, the words of Mizuho Umemura, one of the names opposing the request, stating, "We must act by taking examples from what has been experienced in the West," caused dissatisfaction among Muslims. In the continuation of her speech, Umemura stated, "In this country where we uphold the philosophy of 'When in Rome, do as the Romans do,' Muslims will either perform cremation or go back to their own countries to be buried."
