Why will the CHP come to power?

Actually, I don't write much about politics. 

In fact, this article isn't political either.

Even though the title might lead you in a different direction, the article is just a simple evaluation piece.

As I have written before, after my 25-year public service career, I retired through the EYT (Retirement Age Regulation) and moved to the Istanbul Aydın University Department of Civil Engineering.

As soon as I joined the department, I focused on European Union Projects and other research projects. 

On the other hand, within the scope of “University-Industry Cooperation,” I prepared a roadmap for joint work with some large industrial organizations and municipalities.

In this context, I wanted to visit four municipalities in Istanbul before the holiday.

For this, I requested a vehicle with a driver from the school.

Thanks to the authorities, the matter was handled with just one email.

Within the scope of the municipal visits, I knocked on the doors of the Mayors to discuss both the “Non-Thesis Master's Program in Project and Construction Management” I recently launched and other topics.

Since getting an appointment is a difficult and headache-inducing process, I went directly to their offices and explained my purpose.

I thought, I will meet with whoever wants to meet.

After all, I wasn't asking for work, favors, or amnesty for non-zoning construction projects.

Within 2 hours, I knocked on the doors of four Mayors.

I met with three of them immediately. Even if it was with the “Warm Tea” model applied to uninvited guests, I explained my purpose. 

I saw warmth and sincerity.

In one municipality, however, I couldn't even meet with a deputy mayor, despite us being graduates of the same university, let alone the mayor.

Before these visits, I hadn't checked which party the Mayors belonged to.

When I returned to the faculty, I decided to take a look on the internet.

All the mayors who met with an ordinary academic like me without an appointment were CHP members and had been mayors for years.

I saw that the one who did not meet with me and gave me a distant but indefinite appointment date was from the AK Party.

Is that why the CHP will come to power?
