Every day we start by saying "it can't get any worse," we are confronted with a state of moral decay that makes us ashamed of our humanity.

This time, "babies being killed" in intensive care are on our agenda...

We, who hesitate to step on an ant, are experiencing the desperation of "how we can protect our children from this moral decay."

The problems caused by the corruption in state institutions, which should provide confidence to the citizens, are also always in the back of our minds.

We are going through days where we feel the need to watch our backs on the street, regardless of gender.

To this process, in which we have lost our faith in justice, "the moral decay in the healthcare system" has now been added.

I am sure you have all read the news about the sick babies left to die in the intensive care unit.

You have also seen the contents of the correspondence in the incident, in which the chief physicians of some private hospitals were also involved.

I don't think there is anyone who could read those messages and not "question the love for humanity" within them.

However, I am not sure whether the detention footage or the trial to be held will be a balm for the social trauma we are experiencing.

Because we are people who cannot even imagine such moral decay and evil...

This incident has also shown that there is much work to be done, many decisions to be made, and a long way to go to get the state back on its feet.

On the other hand, while we see ourselves in a dark tunnel, "that Public Prosecutor who protected the rights of the murdered babies and did not bow to threats became the light at the end of the tunnel."

Another development that gave us hope in all this pitch-black darkness was the verdict delivered in the Meryem Çap murder case.

The court sentenced the perpetrator, Ş.Ç., to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of Qualified Homicide in the femicide committed against his spouse.

Another significance of the decision rendered in this case was that "no sentence reduction was applied to the perpetrator."

After the decision passes through the appellate and supreme court processes and becomes final, the perpetrator will remain in prison for the rest of his life and will serve a significant portion of his sentence in solitary confinement.

Although the court's decision brings a small measure of relief during the process we are going through, the data released at the time this article was written reveals that femicide continues to be our country's most burning issue.

In a period where institutions have collapsed and injustice is openly voiced, the growth of that light at the end of the tunnel depends on an increase in the number of people who think not of their personal interests, but of the country's future.

I am not hopeless; I see that potential in the people of my country and I believe in it.
