It was enough for the Land Forces Commander of the time to wag his finger from the border. Receiving the message, Syria would be forced to immediately kick out the PKK leader, to whom it had provided all kinds of support for years. Every door the stateless man knocked on would be slammed in his face, and those who attempted to aid and abet him would also step back under the pressure of the Old Turkey (!). After a few months spent in flight and pursuit, the final point would be placed in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, on February 15, 1999.
The first photograph of Öcalan taken on the plane on February 16, 1999, with his eyes blindfolded and his hands handcuffed, would be etched in memories as a sign of Turkey's power and determination against separatist terror. We are talking about the Öcalan of 1999, who told Turkish security forces with a crushed expression that his mother was Turkish and that he was ready to provide all kinds of assistance to the Turkish state.
Following the first phase in Ankara, he would be tried in İmralı, where he was transferred, and he would be held accountable for the blood he shed. Why the death penalty handed down to him was not carried out is the subject of a separate article. It should be noted that the unity of all political parties, with their government and opposition, and all segments of society, from workers to tradesmen, villagers to city dwellers, against imperial-staged separatism at that time, was a sign of Turkey's national resistance and national sensitivity. The Turkish people's sensitivity in favor of the indivisible integrity of the country has always been the greatest pillar of the state's policy of not compromising and not taking a step back in the fight against ethnic terror.
While the Turkish left, which was largely liquidated by the September 12, 1980 coup, could not recover, the PKK, whose path was cleared, would rise through a different process. While implementing what was written in its ethnic agenda in the region, it would use leftist rhetoric in the west of the country and in metropolises. The fact that the PKK, which used leftist rhetoric and Marxist terminology during its emergence period, did not fight against landlords or the feudal caste, for some reason, did not attract much attention amidst the dust and smoke of leftist demagoguery. While leftist rhetoric was used in the ideological showcase, its entanglement in practice with heroin barons, landlords, and the feudal structure, and its failure to say a single word against imperialism, being accepted as an ally without question, triggered the loss of reputation and the disappearance of the Turkish left, which could not overcome its defeat psychosis.
The background to the return of the terrorist organization leader, who was almost forgotten in İmralı, to the public agenda should be considered. It should be known that the polishing of the leader of ethnic separatism, whose period of utility has passed, like a Messiah, aims for a Turkey without the Euphrates, without the Tigris, without the GAP, and a Kurdistan under imperial tutelage. It must be realized that under the guise of stopping the bloodshed, the blood in the veins of the Turkish nation is intended to be drained to the last drop. The demands in Öcalan's message, which is reflected as a sacred word descended from the sky, to add ethnic stakeholders to Turkey's title deed, to remove the concept of the Turkish Nation from the Constitution, and to divide the country into ethnic and sectarian-based pieces are being overlooked by the smoke screens thrown.
One hundred years after Turkey was founded on the basis of a nation-state and unitary structure, it is being said, "Forget Lausanne, we will give you a updated Sèvres"! The prescription for destruction that will tear Turkey apart is being forced upon the entire nation as if it were a panacea! It must be realized as soon as possible that what is being offered like Turkish delight is nothing but hemlock poison!
