Hacı Bektaş Veli or Hacı Hans Veli?

Our thousand-year-old sociological reality and our intertwined culture of faith, Turkish/Turkmen Alevism, will undoubtedly fend off this attack as well. We are talking about a postmodern Yazid conspiracy masked as Hüseyin, set up against Turkish/Turkmen Alevism. We are speaking of an operation to move the spiritual center of Turkish/Turkmen Alevism from Hacı Bektaş, the heart of Anatolia, to Berlin, and to transfer its spiritual leadership from Hacı Bektaş Veli to Hacı Hans Veli.  

The international Hacı Bektaş Veli Commemoration Ceremonies and Culture and Arts Events, held on August 16-17-18, once again demonstrated the attempts to alienate our thousand-year-old distilled culture of faith, Turkish/Turkmen Alevism, from the lands where it was born and from the nation that lives and keeps it alive. Attention must be paid to the progress made in transforming a faith and culture unique to us, our thousand-year-old sociological reality, into a synthetic product that is anti-Republic and anti-Turkish.

The spiritual center of Turkish/Turkmen Alevism is Hacı Bektaş (Sulucakarahöyük), and its spiritual leader and source is the Turkmen nation's Hacı Bektaş Veli. Beyond being our intertwined culture of faith, it is a distilled synthesis of Turkish identity and Turkish values. The chaos that is being attempted to be created in this ocean of faith—formed by the hearths, lineages, dedes, and followers both inside and outside the country who accept Sulucakarahöyük as the spiritual center and Hacı Bektaş as the spiritual leader—must not be overlooked. 

The massacres, plotted in imperial centers and implemented in the field in Çorum, Kahramanmaraş, and Sivas Madımak, were aimed at severing the faith of these lands from its homeland. One must reflect on why those who organized the provocations we describe, while pointing to the Republic of Turkey as responsible for the massacres that occurred, do not return certain arsonist Madımak perpetrators they harbor in their own countries to Turkey, despite the persistent demands of the court. 

It should be known that the speeches made by the administrators of the separatist party—which names streets after Sheikh Said, the leader of the British-backed Kurdish-Islamist uprising against the Republic, and which denigrates the Treaty of Lausanne while glorifying the Treaty of Sèvres—at the Hacı Bektaş ceremonies are nothing more than taqiyya. It is clear that the strategy of those who do not stand in silence during the National Anthem toward Turkish/Turkmen Alevism is aimed at creating allies for the separatist terrorist organization. Such demagoguery, intended to cover up the hostile approach toward Alevism by Idris-i Bitlisi, the fatwa-giver/ideologue of the 16th-century Turkmen massacre, by the anti-Republic and anti-secular Sheikh Said, and by feudal lords and landowners who treated poor peasants like slaves, will undoubtedly be rendered void by those who have passed through many experiences. 

Let us laugh off the deviousness of adding our citizens who come from the Alevi faith and culture as the last wagon to the ethnic separatist train; let us laugh off the "equal citizenship" demagoguery. However, let us also ask the person sitting in Atatürk's seat: Yes to the equality of citizens, of course, but do you truly not know that the rhetoric of "Equal Citizenship" is a misleading slogan for ethnic separatism and for plunging the country into an ethnic and sectarian chaos like Lebanon, Iraq, and Syria, or are you saying it knowingly?

There are moments of decision when nations reach a crossroads. The decisions made at such moments take their place in history as a choice between existence and non-existence. It must not be overlooked that the conspiracy established against Turkey and the Turkish nation through sectarianism, the Yazidism masked as Hüseyin, is nothing more than a misleading compass for a postmodern massacre aimed at our Alevism.
