Although the recent local election results have only just begun to reflect on our political life as a short wave, they should be seen as a sign that we have reached the end of the long wave that has lasted for over twenty years and is still continuing, which some refer to with the "parenthesis literature." The tendency of the map of Turkey to start turning red from the Western region shows that the long wave has reached its expiration date and has run out of breath.
In fact, it was understood in the last presidential election that the long wave had reached its end. Despite deep suspicions about how sound the election was, and no matter how much the image of the elected president taking office was clouded by a peaceful facade, the signs that the era had already ended were very obvious. That is why a new constitution was pushed by creating an unpleasant legal debate. We will see whether the recent local elections will alleviate or remove this pressure.
Despite the meaningful reaction against the central government with the latest election results, a forced agenda regarding the constitution may arise. Because the issue of survival, which the president never drops from his tongue, should be seen not as national, but as partisan, or even personal. If a position or office suitable for an individual can be created with a new constitution, everyone might find partial peace. In fact, despite the oath to close the "Republic parenthesis," why not go the way of creating personal positions and offices by making a suitable agreement with the rising segment after failing, thus ensuring the peace of all parties? Why wouldn't a mentality that suffocates the country with foreigners for the sake of party and personal survival go for a constitutional compromise with the rising segment after this goal also fails? Does such behavior align with political ethics? Let's put political ethics aside in the new administration period that has sworn to close the Republic parenthesis; do you think the virtue of respect for the voter or the human being is reflected, even in the most innocent sense?
This is where we reach the sociological reason for the latest victory. In the US, the story of a famous Black man named Malcolm X, which is never erased from memories, is often told. The story is this: When a Black person was bought as a slave in the US, the first thing the master would do was change the slave's name. One of the Black people who was reactive to this situation, which insults human dignity, one day rejected the name given to him and asked to be called X. You know, X is the sign of death. Therefore, a person whose personality is erased is dead in spirit, if not in body. However, the first shock of spiritual death can suppress a person and the masses. But when the dose of suppression is exceeded, the dead soul revives and provides new energy to the body. This is exactly what happened in the last election! Such an “take your mother and go” attitude of the AKP and all its members from top to bottom towards the public brought society to this point. This development was inevitable. However, a person can sometimes act so arrogant and blinded that, just as they cannot see the development of the event, they cannot foresee their own fate.
Election fraud does not end with the ballot box alone. As in local elections, it is possible to manipulate election results with the country's population composition in general elections as well. Bringing so many foreign populations into the country and solving their health problems with priority over native citizens provides a significant election advantage to the political cadre that provides this. It is very clear that such demographic games are hidden behind the claim of some leaders with weak faith in democracy that elections are not won at the ballot box. In this period, demographic maneuvers have not yet borne fruit, but the fertility rate of the new population mass that has been attached to the country and senselessly associated with it is incredibly high compared to the established population. In the near future, we will have to share our bread as well as our political preferences with these people. It is precisely at this point that both the public and the political cadre are doomed to absolute division. Namely, by employing the foreign elements added to the population like slaves, they will continue to add wealth to the lazy and exploitative bosses while keeping the backward, inefficient industry alive at the expense of the country's own laborers. In parallel, they will divide the country's politics in half by bringing politicians not embraced by the country's own citizens to power. This situation makes the capital and the pro-capital political power, as well as the imperialist who tends to exploit the country, happy, and will continue to do so in the future.
The imperialist's maneuvers on the latest political structure also had an effect on the election results through prices and the collapse of the economy. As the late Demirel said, the saying that the "pot (kitchen economy) topples the government" was seen in the last election. So, what was the role of the imperialist in the negative results of the elections? The infrastructure construction works that the AKP government put in the showcase with the joy of a child were very costly to society. While the payment of this cost led to price increases, it left the public, especially the narrow and low-income segments, in a very difficult situation. The issue of unemployment and low wages among laborers also increased the unrest of society and led to the production of this result.
It is clear that these difficulties, as much as they ensured the success of the election, are also candidates to create important difficulties in its future success. It should not be forgotten that success is related to local governments, while dealing with the difficulties of the general economy is the job of the central government. The improper pressure of the central government on local governments can also put local governments in a difficult situation. In the end, we will wait and see whether the problems reflected to the public who are not happy with the local governments will benefit the AKP or serve the survival problem of the party and/or its leaders. Even though it was a local government election, the entire ruling political cadre descending into the field in a way that creates a severe element of pressure on the public, as well as being against political ethics and courtesy, cannot be accepted by any standard.
Despite everything, I wish success to the new cadres as a new breath and an opening door in politics.
