The greatest wealth transfer in history and the sewing needle fairy tale

The AKP owes its nearly quarter-century of power not to coincidences, but to its ability to read sociological codes well. The ruling party, which knows its own voter base very well, has succeeded in consolidating the poor by saying, "if we are not here, they will continue to look down on you," dividing society in two with polarizing language, and placing religious values at the center of politics. However, behind this success lies a massive economic transformation and a sharing of "rent" that has been kept out of the public eye.

In recent weeks, AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan claimed that Turkey "could not even produce a sewing needle" in the past, and that everything became possible with the AK Party. Of course, only those who close their eyes to reality and the "sycophants" who feed off this system gave any credence to these words.

So, what happened in that Turkey they claim "could not produce" anything?

Data from the Privatization Administration proves that the picture was not like that at all; on the contrary, it proves how a ready-made inheritance was squandered:

Between 1986 and 2025, a total of 73.5 billion dollars in privatizations were carried out.

Exactly 89 percent of this massive sale, that is, 65 billion dollars worth, took place during the AKP era.

Public assets, which belonged to the people and were considered the guarantee of our future, were sold off "like a boss" and transferred to crony companies. This process was not just a change of ownership; it was the greatest wealth transfer in the history of the Republic. These structures that "seized" public assets used the unlimited capital they obtained to establish massive media networks that manipulate society and turn the truth upside down.

This is exactly where our tragedy begins. On one hand, a new wealthy class is being created by handing over the state's factories, ports, power plants, coasts, bays, and forests to cronies; on the other hand, we are witnessing uncles and aunts who loyally support this order beating each other with canes in Ankara just to get "free apples."

The struggle for life that those who applauded while their own future was being sold are now giving for a kilo of fruit has become our country's greatest "impasse."

And unfortunately, this sales list has not yet ended; whatever can be sold continues to be disposed of one by one.

In short; the sewing needle story is a big fairy tale, while the 65 billion dollar sale is a bitter reality.
