We are in a period where state decorum, the understanding of civil service, rules, balances, and necessities—all the dynamics that create and should sustain a system—have been destroyed.
I had convinced myself that the events I experienced in the later stages of my adolescence had provided me with extraordinary experience.
I thought I had no capacity for surprise left; I even used to say things beyond my years, claiming, “we have become surprised at being surprised.”
Now, at 46, I am in a period where I am tossed from one state of astonishment to another, constantly asking, "Did this really happen, and what will we experience at the next level?"
Because under the MHP-AKP government, we are pushed from one state of shock to another every day by the highest-level, most unimaginable events, the most mind-boggling acts of corruption, and political profiles and behaviors that repeatedly force us to question the existence of human dignity.
The latest example, occurring on the anniversary of July 15, was witnessing special operations officer Süleyman Karadeniz kissing the hand of Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli.
Everyone knows who is close to the MHP in Turkey. However, these strange events are developing within a framework of an approach that people do not know, or perhaps know and are building another strategy around. Perhaps this is a sharp message.
The night of July 15 went down in history as a horrific attempt that caused the deaths of dozens of citizens. And the government, as if it had learned no lessons from these events, continues to fill the state with religious sects and keeps empowering those it feels close to.
The identities of uniformed soldiers and police officers are a question mark. For an ordinary citizen, this situation is, in the simplest terms, very frightening.
There is no justice left to seek refuge in anyway.
WHAT THE CHP MUST DO
There are still four years until the general elections.
We saw that the CHP achieved success in the local elections. This success was, of course, dependent on various parameters. However, as a result, the vast majority of the public, who have been drifting in deep despair for over 21 years, at least took a breath.
However, the politics currently put forward by the Republican People's Party (CHP) does not promise much for the future, while also causing morale to gradually decline.
I believe that the public's expectation from the Republican People's Party and all opposition organizations is to produce solutions. The CHP must stop explaining how poorly the AKP government manages—or rather, fails to manage—and start explaining how problems will be fixed.
Beyond explaining, it must share its plans.
AND THE AKP'S NEW PLANS REGARDING THE MEDIA
Following the CHP's local election success, there are not a few who think that the CHP will come to power in the general elections as well. However, the AKP and its junior partner, the MHP, will certainly not want to hand over power easily.
It would be a huge mistake to expect them to easily transfer such established power and unlimited financial resources to the opposition without a fight.
In addition to the possibility of early elections, if everything proceeds on its normal course, we could enter one of the most chaotic and exhausting election periods in history, both as journalists and as ordinary citizens.
Before finishing my article, I want to give an example of what the AKP will do to avoid relinquishing power. As is known, the AKP and its junior partner, the MHP, have maintained their existence thanks to very effective dynamics they created for themselves.
Covering up the truth was one of the most important reasons for a government that has continued for so many years. How did they do this?
Of course, with government media outlets funded by public resources, purchased by "fed" holdings that are served public tenders, which have grown increasingly powerful and are distributed for free in markets; with television channels, thousands of "fed" trolls, countless websites, and social media accounts managed by dozens and even hundreds of professional journalists...
Now, they are aware that they have lost their credibility.
It is being whispered in media corridors that they are producing a new strategy to be used in their internal infighting and to be effective over the masses once again. Strange formations may emerge in the Turkish media in the near future.
The government media now needs media outlets that appear to be in opposition. It is being rumored that negotiations are underway for the purchase of some. I will share when I watch and reach real information.
