President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan once again stoked the emotions of the religious segment yesterday.
At a meeting of the Presidency of Religious Affairs Academy, he trampled on "secularism" by engaging in "sharia cheerleading."
By speaking of "hostility toward sharia," he once again attempted to divide the public.
He claimed that being against sharia is equivalent to being hostile toward religion itself.
*
In other words, he attempted to "destroy secularism" without even mentioning it…
How, you ask?
According to the Great Turkish Dictionary of the Turkish Language Association, the Arabic-origin word "sharia" has only one definition:
"Islamic Law, based on the verses in the Quran and the words of Prophet Muhammad..."
Some countries are governed by rules, that is, laws, said to belong to God.
People cannot add to, subtract from, or interpret these rules.
There is no constitution in those countries, nor civil law, commercial law, international law, or public law…
There is no parliament either!
Because there is no need to make laws!
Every kind of regulation concerning life and humanity is attempted to be provided according to rules established thousands of years ago.
Did someone commit theft?
Cut off their hand…
Did someone commit murder?
Cut off their head…
Did they dress immodestly or drink alcohol?
Whip them!
Did they commit rape?
You know which part to cut off by now!
The "qadis" (judges) who make these decisions distribute justice "in the name of God under the command of the Caliph." That is why it is not written in the courts and official offices of those countries that "Sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation!"
Sovereignty supposedly belongs to God, but the actual sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the caliphs, padishahs, sultans, and beys who find the audacity in themselves to use this authority!
*
In today's world, however, all contemporary countries have man-made constitutions.
Laws that regulate every area of life must be in accordance with this constitution.
No one…
But absolutely no one… (These "no ones" include Recep Tayyip Erdoğans.)
Can act against the laws and the constitution.
For example, even though the second article of this country's currently effective Constitution states that "The Republic of Turkey is a democratic, secular, and social state governed by the rule of law," a president cannot come out and call citizens who "want the principle of secularism to be followed" "enemies of sharia"!
He cannot target them!
He cannot throw them as bait to religious murderers!
*
In short; being against sharia is not, despite what the President says to the contrary, being against people's religions or beliefs.
It is being against the state being governed by "religious laws and a religious constitution."
For a president elected thanks to human-made laws established through the possibilities of secularism to demand a "religious constitution" is equivalent to shooting oneself in the foot.
Although the Constitution stipulates that the President cannot be tried, it is essential that this person, who is also a political party leader, be tried and that a closure case be filed against his party!
The Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation, who does not see this and does not take action, will also surely come to be tried one day for neglect of duty!
