Bad Cat Şerafettin!

The President of Religious Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, said at the opening of a 4-6 age Quran course, “We want young people who harbor hatred in their hearts and souls against those who betray their nation and state…”

Hatred…

This word falls under the scope of the “principle of equality and prohibition of discrimination” defined in Article 10 of the Constitution… 

And the “crime of discrimination and hatred” defined in Article 122 of the Turkish Penal Code.

We, citizens who stand for enlightenment and secularism, try to teach our children to try to understand everyone…

To be respectful of all kinds of beliefs and thoughts…

To love those who are not like us.

Because we know that malice and hatred fuel hostility…

And that hostility leads to wars, massacres, and murders.

Yet the top institutional leader in our country of Islam, a religion of “tolerance,” is advocating not for love, but for “hatred.”

Just like the President who said a few years ago, “We will raise a religious and vengeful generation.”

Well, against whom?

“Against those who betray the nation and the state…”

If a person is betraying their nation and state, hate them…

Beat them, torture them, kill them!

But who defines “betrayal,” and by what standard?

If what you see as “betrayal” is actually “hope” for me…

What if I actually love my nation and state more than you do…

What if I am better, more compassionate, and more honest than you…

Then what happens?

Wouldn't it be more correct to try to understand me instead of hating me?

A child's heart and mind are like a field ready to be sown.

You reap what you sow!

If you teach a child to smile, they will smile…

If you teach them to love, they will love.

But if you teach them hatred…

If you teach them discrimination, belittling, disparaging, breaking and destroying, and beating, they will do these things!

That is why you cannot plant malice and hatred into the minds of children, especially those between the ages of 4 and 6…

If you sow the seeds of hostility instead of brotherhood in those pure minds and hearts…

Of division instead of unity…

Of exclusion instead of inclusion…

Of enmity instead of embracing, you turn the world into an unlivable place.

If you accept that no one is obligated to think like you, and manage to show respect to people despite their differences…

If you accept that hatred is a crime…

You will have performed a noble deed commanded by all religions!

President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş appears before us sometimes with a sword in his hand, and sometimes with hate speech…

It is not light, but hatred that flows from his face!

He praises war, not peace.

He glorifies hostility, not brotherhood.

No matter what anyone says; I do not believe that a person with this mentality can be an example to or lead the Islamic world.

This fellow is nothing more than a “Bad Cat Şerafettin”…

He spreads evil not only to himself but to everyone around him!
