As the AKP government prepares to leave 22 years behind, every institution in the country is sending an S.O.S.
In recent days, healthcare institutions have been added to these.
For a week now, we have been talking about the murders committed by the Newborn Gang for the sake of money.
The number of babies they killed is 12; but that is for now…
There is fear that the number will increase significantly as the investigation deepens.
***
So, what crime did the Newborn Gang, which caused the deaths of these 12 babies, commit?
What is the accusation directed at the 22 people, most of whom are healthcare personnel, who are under arrest?
According to the indictment, the suspects targeted state hospitals by acting in collusion with the 112 Emergency Service…
They took babies born in these hospitals to the "Newborn Units" of private hospitals under the pretext of "vital risk" when there was no need at all.
While making money for the hospitals, they also lined their own pockets.
But…
In the meantime, they caused the loss of 12 babies' lives (for now)!
What saddens me the most is that there are many specialist or general practitioner physicians in the gang who have taken the Hippocratic Oath.
The ones used the most are nurses and ambulance staff…
They surrendered to the mafia when they became unable to live on the pittance of a salary deemed appropriate by the state!
Now everyone is going after this gang, holding them accountable…
In my opinion, there are others who are at least as guilty as this gang:
They are the Ministers of Health who have served throughout the 22 years of AKP governments…
And of course, the state dignitaries who established those governments.
They are the ones who ruin our health, the ones who prioritize money over our lives!
***
No matter how much you have become a prisoner of "savage capitalism," healthcare services cannot be privatized in any country that claims to be a social state in its constitution…
Even if it is privatized, the "citizen" who receives service from those hospitals does not pay the money; the state pays on their behalf…
And because the money comes out of the state's pocket, no corruption is allowed to the extent it is here…
***
The AKP broke this rule.
In 2002, when it came to power, the number of private hospitals in this country was only 271.
Today, it is racing toward 580.
Only 59 percent of hospitals across Turkey are affiliated with the Ministry of Health…
37 percent are in the private sector, and 4 percent are in universities…
While the number of public hospitals increased by only 18 percent from 2002 to 2022, the increase in the number of private hospitals reached 120 percent.
***
Do not look at the fact that I only gave the number of hospitals; every leg of the health sector is being exhausted separately.
For years, you cannot even find Aspirin with Vitamin C that dissolves in water in the pharmacies of this country; is that okay?
Cancer drugs are on the black market, and red-prescription drugs are in the hands of the drug mafia…
There is an insulin shortage for diabetics, insulin!
What else… Let me tell you:
Tens of thousands of seriously ill patients are waiting for the appointment dates given months later for surgery to arrive.
The Central Appointment System, which the Ministry boasts about as if it were a great feat, has collapsed. Those who manage to get an appointment are on the verge of tears of joy!
***
Why did it happen like this?
Rest assured, the ones responsible for all of this are not the Newborn Gang or drug gangs or surgery gangs…
They are not the cause; they are just the result…
The real culprit is the mentality that makes private hospital owners Minister of Health, private school owners Minister of National Education, and the owner of the country's largest tourism agency Minister of Tourism!
They and those they appoint as ministers have only one concern; to fill their own pockets.
To add wealth to their own wealth…
Are you asking, "What should the citizen do?"
Let them die, sir, let them die!
And if possible, let them die in a small village…
Because, although no one realizes it for now, "newly deceased" gangs are also practicing their craft in big cities, just like the Newborn Gang…
If you want a grave in a good place, the rate reaches 100 thousand liras…
* **
In other words; whether you are born or die, you always fall into the hands of a gang…
But this gang… is not those gangs reflected in the press.
Most people still call them "Esteemed".
