How did Erdoğan insult the princes?

Don't leave your news choices to an algorithm - decide for yourself what you read. Add 12punto to your preferred sources!

For years, President Erdoğan did not mention Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu by name. When he was forced to mention him, he tried to "mock" him by calling him "Bay Kemal" (Mr. Kemal).

Kılıçdaroğlu stated that he was not bothered by this address, and when describing himself, he used the same term to make a reference to Erdoğan. For example, he said, "Don't worry, Bay Kemal will hold you accountable for the 128 billion dollars one by one."

Upon this, Erdoğan improved his sense of humor (!) this time by saying "Bay bay Kemal" (Bye-bye Kemal).

Kılıçdaroğlu did not care about this either.

He did not care, but the people who worship Erdoğan blindly loved these forms of address very much.

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu left, and Özgür Özel came in his place.

This time, Erdoğan tried not to mention Özgür Özel's name. He attempted to trivialize him by calling him "that person" or "this person."

Then his advisors found an adjective for him as well, which was neither very creative nor clever:

"Efendi!" (Sir/Gentleman!)

Özgür Efendi here, Özgür Efendi there...

In his own mind, or rather in the minds of his advisors, he must think that by saying "Efendi," he is belittling Özgür Özel.

However, according to the Turkish Language Association dictionary, "efendi" is a word used to mean "gentleman" or "master"...

During the Ottoman period, the word "efendi" was used to indicate that a person was respected:

Sheikh ul-Islam Ebusuud Efendi...

Sheikh ul-Islam Mehmet Ziyaeddin Efendi...

Sheikh ul-Islam Yahya Efendi...

Izmir Judge Mehmet Efendi...

Kazasker Mustafa Izzet Efendi...

Defterdar Mahmut Efendi...

Minister of Education Emrullah Efendi...

None of the names I have listed are made up; they are all historical figures...

I could give tens of thousands more examples, but there is no need...

The word "Efendi" is such a concept containing respect that, starting from the reign of the Ottoman Sultan Abdülmecid I, it began to be given as a "title" to the sons of sultans.

In other words, even future sultans were called "efendi" in these lands...

For example, the name of the son of Abdülhamid, whom Erdoğan loves so much, is even Şehzade Abdülkadir Efendi!

Şehzade Ahmet Nuri Efendi, Şehzade Burhaneddin Cem Efendi, Şehzade Harun Efendi, Şehzade Orhan Efendi...

*

Even after the Republic was founded, "efendi" was used as a word of respect for a long time...

Isn't one of Atatürk's most well-known sayings, "The peasant is the master (efendi) of the Turkish Nation"?

Then, when distorted urbanization and cultural erosion began, that is when this lovely word turned into a term of "belittlement"...

*

It is clear that the knowledge of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan or his know-it-all "perception wizard" chief advisors regarding "gentlemanship" (efendilik) is quite shallow...

If they had a little knowledge, wouldn't they know that while trying to mock Özgür Özel by calling him "efendi," they are insulting the Ottoman Empire, for which they show no lack of respect?

God forbid, what if Abdülhamid Han rose from his grave and stood before them to hold them accountable, saying, "You ignorant fool... Are you mocking the titles of my sons and grandsons?"

Wouldn't they be terrified? (This word was supposed to be something else, but I wonder what it was?)

It would be better if you, Recep Tayyip Efendi (I am using it to elevate you); you should be careful and give up the habit of saying everything that comes to your mouth!

Even if unknowingly, you are rebelling against and betraying your history!
