“I found an eraser, whose is it? If it has no owner, it's mine!”
This was one of the most common rhymes we heard while sitting in primary school desks... We are no longer in primary school; that's why we don't find pencils, erasers, or sharpeners.
Some of us grew up and became members of parliament.
These friends didn't just stop at becoming MPs; some of them also earned large sums of money.
They didn't just stop at earning it, either. This money must have been too much for them, as they started forgetting it here and there.
And the amount they forgot is a mere 250 thousand dollars!
In other words, roughly 8 million liras!
This money must be so insignificant to this wealthy MP friend that they “forgot” it in an MP's office last week!
Surprised, aren't you?
But the truly surprising thing is that the owner of this money, which was allegedly found, has not come forward!
*
Are you confused?
Wait; for those of you who haven't heard, let me tell you the story from the beginning:
An interesting claim was made last week.
According to this claim voiced by AKP MPs, a grocery bag containing 250 thousand dollars was found in CHP Ordu MP Seyit Torun's office.
You know, one of those 25-kuruş bags that our government refuses to raise the price of...
Again, according to the claim, the person who forgot this bag in that office was CHP Malatya MP and Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Candidate Veli Ağbaba...
As soon as the claim hit social media, the first statement came from Veli Ağbaba.
Ağbaba challenged the claims, saying, “Let it be proven that the money belongs to me, and forget about resigning from parliament, I will shoot myself in the head.” He stated that he would submit a petition to the Speaker of the Parliament to have the matter investigated and the security camera footage examined.
The second statement came from CHP Ordu MP Seyit Torun, who was also mentioned in the news reports on social media.
He also said, “The claim that such a bag was found in my office is baseless. I, too, will submit a petition to the TBMM (Grand National Assembly of Turkey) Speaker's Office to have the matter investigated.”
These petitions must have been submitted, as the Parliament General Secretariat appointed an “investigator” (a person tasked with investigating the truth, according to the Turkish Language Association) yesterday and launched an inquiry.
*
Since the Speaker's Office felt the need to launch such an investigation, it means there really is “250 thousand dollars found in a bag”!
Otherwise, instead of conducting an investigation, the Speaker's Office would have said, “We have received no information that such money was found,” and closed the matter.
After this stage, the questions to be asked are clear, and I am directing them to the Speaker of the Parliament, Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş:
• Was such a bag delivered to your Speaker's Office or to the parliamentary administrative units, and was there really 250 thousand dollars inside it?
• If it was delivered, who is the person who delivered it?
• When delivering the money, where did they say they found it?
• While it is possible for you to answer these questions immediately, why are you not doing so?
• Could it be that someone has set a trap for important CHP figures Veli Ağbaba and Seyit Torun?
In short...
This strange incident, which is alleged to have taken place under the roof of the “Grand National Assembly” founded by Atatürk and his friends, must be solved immediately, and the schemes being plotted must be brought to light...
Oh, by the way; if there really is a bag with 250 thousand dollars and the owner doesn't come forward...
It's mine!
Let me know when the investigation is over, and I'll come and get it.
I'll cover the annual school expenses of at least 250 children!
