The Imam Hatip-educated Chief Public Prosecutor and the closure cases that are not being filed!

Don't leave your news choices to an algorithm - decide for yourself what you read. Add 12punto to your preferred sources!

The Justice and Development Party (AKP) was convicted by the Constitutional Court in 2008 for being the “focal point of anti-secular activities.”

In fact, it should have been shut down, but it escaped this fate by only “one” vote. In return for this major crime, it was only given a minor penalty such as a “reduction in treasury aid.”

Now, it commits the same crime almost every day, but for some reason, the Office of the Supreme Court of Appeals Chief Public Prosecutor, which is “tasked with monitoring whether political parties act in accordance with the constitution,” is not filing a new closure case against this party.

Moreover, this is despite the fact that there have been official applications made on this matter!

Fine; the President cannot be put on trial!

A lawsuit cannot be filed against him for what he has done or said.

But the AKP is a separate legal entity…

The right granted to the President is not simultaneously granted to the AKP, of which he is also the Chairman…

Let us try to remember:

• Did AKP President Erdoğan not shower the hardline sharia-advocating Taliban with praise?

• Did he not accuse those who oppose the sharia regime of being godless? Did he not say, “Hostility toward sharia is hostility toward religion itself”?

• Did Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin not challenge the secular Republic with his speech defending the protocols signed with religious sects and communities?

• Did the People's Alliance's sharia-advocating partner, HÜDAPAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu, not clearly advocate for the ethnic and religious division and fragmentation of the country?

• Was a Caliphate Rally not organized in the heart of Istanbul?

• Were pro-sharia slogans not chanted even at Anıtkabir?

• Were the country's mosques not turned into political propaganda venues for the ruling political party?

And yesterday…

Yes; just yesterday, while AKP Chairman and President Tayyip Erdoğan was speaking at his party's rally in Mersin, did a portion of those listening to him not chant, “We want sharia”?

*

I could list thousands more examples.

However, even just all of the words and actions I have listed above are enough to require the filing of a closure case against the AKP and its alliance partner HÜDAPAR.

Yet, for some reason, Supreme Court of Appeals Chief Public Prosecutor Bekir Şahin, who sits in the only office tasked with doing this job, is not taking action.

He remains a spectator to the violation of the Constitution…

To it being trampled upon…

To a new constitutional crime being committed every day.

*

So; who is this honorable Supreme Court of Appeals Chief Public Prosecutor Bekir Şahin?

He was born in Çorum on March 1, 1960…

He is a graduate of the Çorum Imam Hatip High School…

Afterward, he graduated from the Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Law…

Now, one cannot help but wonder:

Could it be that because the Supreme Court of Appeals Chief Public Prosecutor is an Imam Hatip graduate, he is looking at “sharia and secularism” not through the eyes of a jurist, but through the eyes of a theologian?

With so many “anti-secular actions and rhetoric” out in the open, could such a “spiritual” reason lie behind his failure to take action?

If so, can such an honorable Chief Public Prosecutor protect our secular constitution from those who want to destroy it?

And is his silence today, his failure to take action, not a clear crime of “neglect of duty”?

*

I wish the Honorary Chief Public Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeals, my dear elder Sabih Kanadoğlu, were still alive so I could ask him these questions.

We feel his absence so deeply!
