The person who said it is Başak Koç, a former volleyball player who played for 21 years at Eczacıbaşı, Galatasaray, and Fenerbahçe, and is now a volleyball commentator…

I have been watching the Olympic Games for hours every day; if you ask, “What remains in your memory?”…

Because these words are like an X-ray of the lungs of the “media-liar order” in our country today!

For those of you who don't know about this life lesson given on TRT Spor screens yesterday, let me explain:

Before the women's volleyball match that Turkey was to play against Italy, TRT Spor’s experienced announcer Kerem Öncel conducted a live broadcast with Özlem Özçelik, one of the former captains of the national team.

After the live broadcast where the final evaluations before the match were made, the broadcast returned to the studio.

Başak Koç, the commentator in the main studio, implied that Kerem Öncel had placed a chair under his feet during the broadcast and said exactly this sentence:

“1.90m Özlem looks 1.70m. Anyway; character does not rise by standing on a chair…”

Why did Ms. Başak make this remark to Mr. Kerem, and what is the real issue between them? Of course, I don't know.

Besides, what is it to us?

The dimension of the incident that concerns us is whether Mr. Kerem really stood on a chair while conducting that interview.

I researched this incident all day yesterday.

Moreover, he wasn't doing it for the first time…

If the person he is interviewing is taller than him and the interview is being conducted standing up, brother Kerem finds a chair or a stool and perches on it…

They are complex-ridden, ambitious, and quarrelsome.

I also wholeheartedly congratulate Ms. Başak (whatever her real grievance may be) for exposing him.

It would be a shame if I didn't draw a political conclusion from such an incident:

To me, Mr. Kerem standing on a chair is the same as the situation of the AKP, which lost its status as the leading party in the last elections and is seen to be rapidly losing votes in all polls conducted…

The AKP, whose real size has shrunk to around 30 percent, is ruling over 100 percent of society by using the seats in Parliament, even if not by standing on a chair.

And…

This “fake, complex-ridden, crippled” situation needs to be eliminated as soon as possible.
