Six days of the nine-day holiday have passed. There has been a massive influx from all over the country to our holiday resorts, especially Istanbul and Ankara.
For six days, you came to our beautiful towns, you ate, you drank, you swam in the sea.
And now, you have either returned or are about to return…
As a citizen who has spent his entire life in a coastal town, I can tell you that you left two things behind:
One: Money! And a lot of it… You didn't leave a single market, ice cream shop, or restaurant unplundered!
Two: An incredible amount of filth… You have defecated all over our beaches, our streets, and every space where we can catch a breath!
*
Yes; I say this in the literal sense of the word:
To avoid walking fifty meters or perhaps to avoid paying five liras for a toilet, you literally defecated behind bushes on the beaches and behind walls in the streets.
If we put these two points together…
You came, you spent your money, and you defecated all over our lives before leaving.
*
And what remains of you is… An incredible amount of filth!
*
I am not blaming all of you, of course… But unfortunately, this is who we are!
Those who go abroad for the first time always say, “Oh, everything was sparkling clean. I loved it.”
That is true…
Once you cross Turkey’s borders to the West, no matter where you go in Europe, you will not see a country as filthy as ours…
The culprit here is neither the state nor the municipalities.
The culprit is us!
Our expatriate who spends the whole year in Germany wouldn't even throw a cigarette butt on the street there, but…
As soon as they enter through Kapıkule, they do two things:
They bend down and kiss the soil of the homeland…
Then they open their car window, take a deep breath of the homeland air, stick their head out, and spit!
They throw empty bags, soda and beer cans onto the highway.
Why?
Because the soil of the homeland is sacred, but it is a dump!
It is forbidden in Europe, but here you have the freedom to throw all your filth wherever you want!
*
I was on the beach an hour ago…
The places where you were swimming one on top of the other yesterday are almost empty today…
Do you know what we who live here are doing?
We are cleaning up the dirty diapers, the trash-filled bags, and the plastic bottles you threw on the ground and into the sea, which you hid in secluded spots.
In other words, we are cleaning the lands and beaches we call home so that we can continue to live in the places you have defecated in.

*
We are tired of all your filth…
You are like a swarm of locusts…
I keep saying how much I love the people of this country at every opportunity, but…
You do not deserve to be loved, my friends!
You wouldn't enter your own home with your shoes on, but you make everywhere outside your home unlivable!
This filth of yours…
This dirt you spread around; it is not limited to just the cans, bottles, and trash you throw here and there.
Your minds are dirty.
Your hearts are dirty.
That is why you choose people like yourselves; to govern you!
You must be faced with the threat of a “penalty” to follow a rule…
You take your foot off the gas pedal where there is a radar, but once the threat is gone, you become a traffic monster again…
You die, and you kill!
*
Those big cities you live in today…
We left those places because of you!
We didn't run away from the city; we ran away from you!
We could no longer endure your rudeness, your arrogance, your noise, your fights, your anger, your eyes looking with hatred, and all kinds of your filth…
Now you enter our lives for a few days twice a year and you defecate and leave!
I do not like you, filthy people…
I do not like you, creatures who make my beautiful country the undisputed filthiest country in Europe!
But unfortunately, you are the majority, and in democracies, you are always right…
That is exactly why we are unhappy!

*
Anyway… Leave me alone… I have so much more of your trash to collect!
