The name of betrayal is forgetting!

This week marks the tenth anniversary of the two separate operations conducted on December 17 and 25, 2013…

I looked at yesterday's newspapers and websites; it is as if such a thing never happened…

. As if a series of corruption and bribery allegations were never raised…

. As if the phones of seven thousand people were not wiretapped by the order of certain prosecutors of this state…

. As if the conversations the then-prime minister had with his own son, as well as certain politicians, journalists, and businessmen, never leaked onto the internet…

. As if the “Zero it out,” “Okay, daddy” dialogues never went down in the history of corruption literature… 

. As if the transcripts of numerous phone calls involving the then-Minister of Interior Muammer Güler, Minister of Environment and Urbanization Erdoğan Bayraktar, Minister for European Union Affairs Egemen Bağış, and Minister of Economy Zafer Çağlayan were never decoded and released to the public…

. As if a 200-folder corruption and bribery file regarding the politicians and bureaucrats of that period was never prepared…

. As if 4.5 million dollars in shoeboxes were not found in the home of the Halkbank General Manager during the operations…

. As if 89 people, including the then-Minister of Interior Muammer Güler’s son Barış Güler, Minister of Economy Zafer Çağlayan’s son Salih Kaan Çağlayan, Minister of Environment and Urbanization Erdoğan Bayraktar’s son Abdullah Oğuz Bayraktar, Halkbank General Manager Süleyman Aslan, and businessmen Ali Ağaoğlu, Reza Zarrab, and Fatih Mayor Mustafa Demir, were not detained…

. As if the homes of hundreds of people were not searched…

. As if a money-counting machine and an incredible amount of cash were not seized during the search of Barış Güler’s home…

. As if the Istanbul Police Chief Hüseyin Çapkın, who was managing the operations, was not abruptly removed from his post…

. As if the ministers' sons Barış Güler and Salih Kaan Çağlayan, businessman Reza Zarrab, and Halkbank General Manager Süleyman Aslan were not arrested…

. As if these “children” were not accused of “mediating the giving and receiving of bribes”…

. As if there was never an attempt to detain 41 other people, including Prime Minister Erdoğan’s son Bilal Erdoğan…

. As if the Minister of Urbanization Erdoğan Bayraktar, who was mentioned in the allegations and whose resignation was requested by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, did not say, “Whatever was done was done with the approval of Prime Minister Tayyip Erdoğan. He should also resign”…

. As if all four ministers were not removed from the cabinet because of these allegations…

Looking back ten years later, there is neither news nor a trace…

Everything has been covered up. 

Even opposition newspapers and television stations have gone silent!

Only one of yesterday's newspapers reported on this anniversary:

You won't believe it, but it was Sabah, the flagship of the pro-government media…

Of course, by interpreting this entire process as it suited them… Sabah did report the news, but it portrayed the operations as a “coup attempt” and the suspects as “victims”…

The content of the news is evident from its headline:

“10 years have passed since the December 17-25 coup attempt!” 

Note that it is the anniversary of the coup attempt, not the corruption operations!

Opposition newspapers and opposition websites did not even bother with it.

Because this subject is “Off-limits!”

No matter what anyone says, a week of December 17-25, 2013, did take place in Turkish political history.

Those who do not see this are not blind, and those who do not hear are not deaf…

Those who do not see, do not hear, do not speak, and do not write are cowards! 

And beyond cowards, they are traitors!

And the name of betrayal is “to forget and to make others forget”!
