The world's most inconsistent and indecisive politician...

On January 29, 2009, at a summit held in Davos, Switzerland, he harshly criticized Israeli President Shimon Peres. Political relations between the two countries remained frozen for 13 years. Even embassies were mutually closed. Whatever happened, in 2022, the gentleman suddenly gave the green light to relations with Israel again.

On May 31, 2010, the 'Mavi Marmara' ship, which was said to be carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, was raided by Israeli soldiers. He said, “I gave the permission for the ship.” A few years later, he officially contradicted himself: “Did you ask me to take this humanitarian aid?”

He accused the United Arab Emirates of rejoicing over the July 15 coup attempt and financing it; six years later, as if he had never said these words, he visited this country and normalized relations.

He targeted the Saudi Arabian administration with harsh words due to the journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who was murdered in the consulate building in Istanbul. “They think the world is a fool. This nation is not a fool, it knows how to hold them accountable,” he said. A few years later, these words were forgotten. He declared Saudi Arabia a “friendly and brotherly country” once again. The case was officially swept under the rug. He hosted the Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who was the instigator of the incident, at his Illegal Palace with an official ceremony.

In İzmir, he said that American pastor Andrew Craig Brunson, who was under house arrest and faced a 35-year prison sentence on charges of “committing crimes on behalf of terrorist organizations and espionage,” would never be extradited to the US. He challenged the US, saying, “As long as this poor man is in this office, you cannot take that terrorist.” In the same year, Pastor Brunson was released, went to the US, and became a hero!

On November 24, 2015, after a Russian warplane was shot down on the Turkey-Syria border, he defied them, saying, “We are not the ones who should apologize, it is those who violated our airspace.” Seven months later, he sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin expressing his regrets!

Regarding the German citizen journalist Deniz Yücel, he said, “He is a complete terrorist. As long as I am in this office, he will never be extradited.” As a result of the insistence of German Chancellor Merkel, Deniz Yücel was released a few months later and returned to his country on a special plane sent by Germany.

Since 2013, he said of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, “God willing, we will see this murderer held accountable in the world.” He insulted him for years. Two months ago, he said, “We will extend our invitation to Mr. Assad. Hopefully, with this invitation, we want to bring Turkey-Syria relations to the same point as they were in the past.”

In March 2022, he said, “There is no one named Mitsotakis for me anymore. Mitsotakis should think about what happens next himself.” In May 2024, he hosted Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis in Ankara.

In January 2023, he closed the doors to Sweden, which wanted to join NATO, saying, “You are supporting a terrorist organization. I am sorry, but you will not see any support from us regarding NATO.” 11 months later, he approved Sweden's NATO accession protocol.

Now, he has become thick as thieves with Egyptian President Sisi, whom he once called a “murderer, coup plotter, tyrant, pharaoh” and said, “I will never make peace!”

These are just the “U-turns” of the world's most inconsistent head of state regarding foreign policy…

Even book pages would not be enough to list his contradictions regarding the economy, domestic policy, education, culture, urbanization, working life, and other issues!

We have all seen by living through it how many billions of dollars his famous “Nas” (religious decree) stubbornness cost the Turkish people.

And the next U-turn!

When the gentleman could not save the country from the crisis, he made another U-turn and brought back Mehmet Şimşek, whom he had called a “fraudster… who tried to defraud Halk Bank,” to head the economy and the Treasury.

The gentleman, who is such an inconsistent, indecisive, and unstable politician, not only impoverished his people and left them behind the times; he also disgraced them before the world with the “U-turns” I have tried to list above.

He dragged the country into an abyss.

He discredited it.

I do not know how many years it will take to repair the damage he caused.

The only thing I know is…

That his vote potential is still around 40 percent…

And that; I really have a hard time believing!
