Those wearing designer scarves versus those eating lobster!

Following the local election defeat, those who spent the holiday break in Monaco, AKP İzmir Deputy Şebnem Bursalı and Hüseyin Filiz, whom the AKP nominated for Mayor of Cankiri, were suddenly declared scapegoats! 

What happened was; Ms. Sebnem, on her Instagram account, shared a photo of the lobster she ate at the Monaco Yacht Club... 

Hüseyin Filiz also took a breather in the Maldives with his grandchildren and children after the election defeat!

In the end, all hell broke loose.

Oh, how could one eat such expensive food while the people are hungry? How could one go on such a luxurious trip?

For example, CHP İstanbul Deputy Oğuz Kaan Salıcı... "While young people cannot even afford a fish sandwich in Eminönü, AKP Deputy Şebnem Bursalı's lobster feast at the Monaco Yacht Club is a class issue, posting it on her story is vulgar, and it is the summary of AKP arrogance" he declared...

You think this place is your father's farm, but this is the party of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the true son of this nation, my brother!"

Look, look, look...

"The true son of the nation" Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, “in order not to compromise on prestige” didn't he have countless palaces built for himself?

You would think the gentlemen saying these things wait for hours in cheap bread lines to understand the deprivation of our people!

It's all an act!

They are doing the exact same thing themselves...

Because in this country, with the exception of a few token examples, only the wealthy can engage in politics!

Only they are nominated.

And we, the poor, are forced to go and choose one of those rich people.

Then we expect these gentlemen and ladies to abandon the lifestyle they are accustomed to after being elected and live like us...

"Come on, eat some dried beans!"

Why would they?

Why would they live like us?

They have money...

That is why they eat it right in front of our eyes, flaunting it!

Which one of them lives in a normal apartment?

Which one of them goes out to the bazaar or market to do their own shopping?

Which one of them has to work an extra job to send their child to school?

Which one of them regularly uses public transportation?

Get used to it already; these people are rich, very rich... 

And they are very wealthy indeed!

The name of the shrimp that Ms. Şebnem ate at Carte Restaurant 1909 “Grilled lobster…” 

The portion is 60 dollars!

That is roughly 2,000 Turkish Lira…

Well… What about the AKP official Mücahit Birinci, who expelled her from the party for eating this meal and sharing a photo on social media, and his scarf that became a hot topic in 2021?

This same gentleman, who expelled Ms. Şebnem from the party today, didn't he become a topic of discussion back then with his Louis Vuitton brand scarf, which cost 330 pounds (13,300 lira at today's exchange rate)?

And then he brazenly came out and defended himself, Didn't they defend it by saying, “You will get used to it, you will get used to it”?

The wealth that not only members of parliament, but all AKP members, including district officials, flaunt in our faces...

Their mansion-like homes, gold-leaf furniture, million-dollar cars...

Thousand-square-meter executive offices...

Their secretaries, waiters, chefs, bodyguards, drivers, maids, and gardeners...

The kids snorting powdered sugar (!), the tacky socialites, the arrogant palace entourage...

The daily cost of the luxurious life in the palace...

What will become of these?

Neither Ms. Şebnem nor Mr. Hüseyin did anything wrong. They simply "acted as they are" !

The real mistake is made by the "party officials" who make people like Ms. Şebnem, or Mr. Mücahit or Mr. Oğuz, into deputies or mayors, and then expect them to live like us!

As long as we do not abolish this Election Law and the Political Parties Law and throw them into the trash entirely...

As long as we do not make a "primary election" with the participation of all members mandatory...

And as long as you do not prevent party bosses from collecting (unofficial) kickbacks starting from 10 million liras for candidacies in the last local elections...

Only the rich will be able to engage in politics!

And they can eat lobster if they want, or go to the Maldives...

No one can interfere!
