Two women, two keys!

Feyza Erbaş, the daughter of the President of Religious Affairs Ali Erbaş and a famous figure in the religious elite, apparently loses the key to her luxury car quite often. She sat down and wrote a poem about this great trouble of hers. And she didn't just stop at writing it; she shared it on her social media account:

“I wish so much that I could find you the moment I want you.

To be able to snatch you from where you are and head out in a flash.

To not have to look in my bag first, then my pockets, and if not there, the library and the shoe rack…

To not have to kneel in front of the door while fully dressed, thinking through every step I’ve taken since I came home yesterday, with cries of ‘My God, it’s not in any of them. Where is this, where did I put it?’

I wish for that so much, my dear key.”

On the same day, another woman spoke about a “key” on social media. In a street interview published on a social media account called Tüysüz Mikrofon, an 84-year-old auntie said the following:

“I cannot make ends meet. I borrowed 100 liras to buy medicine. I am looking for work, to wash dishes. I have children, but they can barely support themselves. I am not in a position to pay my rent. Excuse me, the smell of pita bread comes by so nicely; but I cannot buy it. Let me give you my key, go and look at my house. See the state of my home, see my cupboard.”

There you have it; two women from today's Turkey, and two keys!

Both of them are having trouble with their keys…

One keeps losing the key to her luxury car due to her poor memory and writes a poem lamenting it.

The other is 84 years old… She also has a key, but it is the key to a poor home with an empty refrigerator… It is completely bare!

While one is spoiled, talking about her luxury vehicle and her 8-year-old daughter traveling to 13 countries as a tourist; the other can only buy her medicine with borrowed money.

One is concerned with showing off, the other is hungry…

One has a father behind her, the President of Religious Affairs, who keeps advising the poor to be patient; the other has no strength left from being patient… She is on the verge of tears! Even in these final days of her life, she lives in fear of “going hungry.” Because she has “no one.”

The first does not care about the situation the country is in; the other is the very embodiment of that “situation”!

One is playful, the other is troubled…

One is carefree, the other is sorrowful…

One’s heart beats for her car; the other’s struggle is to stay on her feet, to live without being dependent on anyone!

One’s trouble is a lost key, the other’s is a rumbling stomach…

In this country, millions of people are struggling to make a living.

Tens of thousands of teachers who could not be appointed have had to choose “mercenary service” just to survive. Their mothers cannot sleep. Because their children are on duty across the border. At any moment, bad news could arrive and tragedy could strike their homes…

So; why are they enduring this hardship?

Just to be able to make ends meet!

Rents have skyrocketed, people have forgotten what pastrami is like, and for half of this country, let alone meat or nuts; even cheese and olives have stopped entering their homes…

Mass suicides are on the verge of beginning…

Unhappiness and hopelessness have become our social character…

The half-witted daughter of the President of Religious Affairs, who doesn't even mention Atatürk’s name, is distressed over her luxury car key…

What a shame!

I am clearly warning the roses and thorns of this religious elite:

Fine; the power is with your fathers…

That is why some of you amuse yourselves with powdered sugar; others with your luxury vehicles and expensive travels!

But if you rub this in the faces of people who are 84 years old and looking for work to wash dishes…

They, too, will very soon rub those powdered sugars of yours…

Those luxury vehicles of yours…

Those expensive travels of yours in your faces…

Because rebellion against oppression is a sacred right!

And with this audacity, this spoiled behavior, this lack of manners, and this indecency, you are bringing the exercise of this right ever closer…
