Why doesn't the MHP tie the knot with the AKP?

Don't leave your news choices to an algorithm - decide for yourself what you read. Add 12punto to your preferred sources!

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli is displaying an example of “loyalty to power” unprecedented in world political history.

Even though he is not officially a coalition partner, he is, so to speak, more royalist than the king!

He is terrified that if someone criticizes Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, he won't be able to rush in and defend him!

Whenever Erdoğan is in a tight spot, he draws his sword and starts cutting down anyone who gets in his way.

You would think he is not a party leader, but Fatih’s champion Malkoçoğlu.

If he said “die,” he would die; that’s how far it goes!

*

It happened again:

At his party’s parliamentary group meeting yesterday, he made evaluations regarding President Erdoğan’s statement that “It would be appropriate to change the 50+1 percent rule.”

Emphasizing that changing the 50+1 percent rule could mean a return to the parliamentary system, he nevertheless declared that they would continue to support the government under all circumstances with these words:

*

“Our dialogue with our President is sincere, honest, honorable, based on justice, and founded on respect and love. No one will be able to come between us. For some people with intellectual and moral deficiencies to write articles asking, ‘Will Erdoğan throw Bahçeli under the bus?’, to mention that there is a problem between the AK Party and the MHP, and to set up a trap of discord is a base attempt and a cowardly utterance. The Presidential Cabinet is the cabinet of the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish nation. We stand by every decision it makes; we are ready to share not only its joys but also its burdens if necessary.”

*

For God’s sake, what more can the man say?

He is supposedly the leader of another party, and not even a coalition partner, yet he roars, “We stand by every decision he makes.”

These words are binding.

Once you say, “We stand by every decision he makes,” you cannot turn back.

This means that if the Erdoğan administration said tomorrow, “We are switching to Sharia. We are abolishing elections. We are bringing back the sultanate and the caliphate,” you would stand by that too, which is…

Very, very dangerous!

*

I am not questioning the reason for this change and transformation in Devlet Bahçeli, who spent years throwing ropes at Erdoğan in public squares.

I am not even trying to understand it.

No one can understand or explain this!

I am only curious about the answer to one question:

Since you stand by every decision Erdoğan will make…

Since your dialogue with him is sincere, honest, honorable, and based on justice…

Since it is impossible for anyone to come between you…

Then why don’t you dissolve the MHP and join Erdoğan’s party?

Why do you give the appearance of “One party, two signs” for nothing?

Just merge and be done with it!

*

If you are not thinking of merging…

Or do you not love Erdoğan enough to deny him this tiny sacrifice?
