Why is the Republic bonus in the middle of November?

How did a thousand loaves of bread disappear from the pensioner's table?

Inflation has hit those on fixed incomes the hardest. Tens of millions of people are at the hunger threshold.

The reason is clear; inflation has gone wild, but income is fixed!

Undoubtedly, the segment most victimized among those with fixed incomes is the pensioners!

Real inflation is around 100 percent, and the raise given to salaries is not even half of that...

So, how do pensioners live?

If they still have the strength to work; by working!

In other words, as a "working pensioner"...

You only encounter this concept in underdeveloped countries like ours.

No social state wants its pensioners to work.

Because "retirement" is a system established in those states for citizens to spend their old age in peace.

The state is obligated to guarantee this.

Moreover, it does not even do this from its own budget.

It pays your retirement salary and covers your health expenses with the premiums it deducted from you throughout your working life.

Whoever paid premiums to the state at what level while working; their retirement income is parallel to that.

Those who paid higher premiums and worked for a longer period also have higher retirement salaries.

In underdeveloped countries like ours, however, governments see pensioners as a "burden".

As if they were not the ones who confiscated a significant portion of these people's salaries for years under the name of "premiums"... They act as if they are distributing alms!

They try to close budget deficits by reducing the salaries of these people, which are as rightfully theirs as their mother's milk, in "real" terms.

And the poor pensioner; far from enjoying retirement, is forced to continue working despite their advanced age just to avoid going hungry!

I sat down and calculated; in the days when the AKP came to power, 1 thousand 593 loaves of bread could be bought with the lowest pension.

Today, according to the prices of the Bakers' Chamber, a 230-gram loaf of bread is 7.5 liras. The lowest pension is 7 thousand 500 liras!

In other words, about a thousand loaves of bread have been stolen every month from the table of a pensioner living on the lowest pension!

The government is both crushing the pensioner like this and constantly dangling the few pennies of a raise it will give like a cat looking at liver...

For three months, one of the top five news items on websites has been the same:

"When will the pension be raised?"

And the pensioner, who cannot even go to a coffeehouse and drink tea, keeps clicking on these news stories with hope.

Just like the liver example, there is nothing there, but someone from the government keeps announcing that they will make the raise they are legally required to make at the beginning of next year in "January," as if they were saying something new...

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan appeared before the cameras again after yesterday's Cabinet Meeting and said the same thing:

"We will hopefully improve our pensioners' salaries at the end of the year!"

But what will happen until then? Are all these people going to eat stones?

He gave one more piece of good news (!):

"Towards the middle of November, we will give a 5 thousand lira bonus to our non-working pensioners."

I have two questions...

One: They said this bonus would be given for the 100th Anniversary of the Republic. Then why are you giving it in the middle of November? What is in the middle of November? The anniversary of Atatürk's passing... By the way, what do you mean, what are you trying to do?

Two: Why, and by what right, according to which article of law, and based on which "inequality" principle in the Constitution are you not giving this money to pensioners who work because they cannot make ends meet? If millions of people are working even after retiring, this is not a situation for you to punish them, but on the contrary, it is your helplessness and shame as a government!

In short, put an end to this nonsense immediately...

You are not distributing alms to anyone...

You are distributing the money you deducted from all pensioners' salaries on time!

At least be fair while doing this!
