On Friday and Saturday, exactly 12 of our soldiers were martyred.
Our officials once again strongly condemned and cursed the separatist terrorist organization PKK.
Action was taken in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) to issue a joint declaration with the signatures of all political parties, which would “comfort the hearts of our nation and show that our unity and solidarity continue, and that we are an indestructible fortress against all events.” While that declaration was issued with the signatures of the AKP, MHP, IYI Party, and Saadet Party, another declaration came from the CHP, which had requested the declaration of a national day of mourning and a general debate in Parliament.
In the declaration of the four parties, after the PKK terror was “strongly condemned,” it was declared that “our noble nation will never bow to terror” and that “the Republic of Turkey possesses the power to fight against all terrorist organizations without compromise.”
In the CHP's declaration, without mentioning the name of the PKK, it was stated, “We condemn the treacherous terrorist organization and its inhumane methods,” and a call was made for Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler to provide information in a closed session to be held in Parliament and for a national day of mourning to be declared.
ARE THE IMPERIALISTS NOT NAMED?
Of course, Erdoğan also issued a message of condolence. Emphasizing that “the blood shed by the separatist scoundrels is being avenged many times over,” Erdoğan stated the following:
“We will absolutely not take a step back from our fight against the hired killer gangs that act as subcontractors for the imperialists. Both the bloodthirsty murderers and those who support the separatist organization will sooner or later understand that there is no place for terror in the future of our region.”
The first issue is: Why are the bosses of the PKK, or in Erdoğan's words, the “imperialists,” not named in the statements of the officials and the Parliament?!
The second is: The speeches made after every tragedy claiming that “it is being avenged many times over and the backbone of terror is being/will be broken.”
During the 21-year AKP rule, we have seen exactly 6 Ministers of National Defense.
The first Minister, Vecdi Gönül, who served for 9 years, said in 2008 that “the PKK has reached the point of exhaustion...”
İsmet Yılmaz, who served as minister for 4.5 years, gave the good news in 2011: “We are in the period of mastery. We will overcome the scourge of terror.”
Fikri Işık, who served for 14 months, announced in 2017 that “the backbone of the terrorist organization has been broken,” “a serious disintegration has begun in the organization,” and that the organization “has reached a point where it cannot carry out actions...”
Nurettin Canikli, in the second month of his 1-year term, stated that 2,304 terrorists had been neutralized in the last 11 months, noting that this number was “one of the best results showing how successful the struggle being waged is...”
Hulusi Akar, who served as Chief of General Staff for 3 years and as Minister for 5 years, said, “The terrorist organization has reached the point of ending. There are signs of collapse in the organization... Just as we destroyed the terror corridor they wanted to establish in the north of Syria, we will also destroy the terror nests in the north of Iraq.”
And this is what Yaşar Güler, who took the ministerial seat about 7 months ago after 5 years as Chief of General Staff, said after our 12 martyrs:
“Now, the organization's ability to maneuver has been brought to the point of ending... The dying treacherous terrorist organization is making its final gasps.”
Despite all these speeches, it is known to all of us why the roots of the terrorist organization have not been eradicated for so many years; because we are fighting the PKK, but we are “allies” with their main bosses, the US and NATO.
THE LONG-AWAITED PHONE CALL
Did the US not provide 156 million dollars in funding just 10 days ago to the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces, which it calls “SDF”?
Simultaneously, did it not extend for another year the “emergency decree” that considers the operations our country carries out in northern Syria a “threat to the national security of the US”?
The result? The phone call that had been long-awaited from Biden for months finally came. While Ankara highlighted the Palestine-Israel issue regarding the meeting and announced that “the F-16 issue was also discussed,” Biden's primary agenda was “Sweden's urgent accession to NATO.” On top of that, the sauce that “Biden supports the F-16 sale” was spread.
We learned the developments regarding this sauce later from Erdoğan's own mouth. Okay, Biden would support the F-16s; but he also cared very much about our decision regarding Sweden's membership... Biden even said, “You pass this through Parliament, and I will pass it through Congress.” He also wanted the Foreign Ministers of the two countries to run this process simultaneously.
But according to statements from the US side, it did not happen as Erdoğan described; Washington was waiting for the approval of Sweden's NATO membership first in order to take steps regarding the F-16s. This way, it could be ensured that some members of Congress would approve the F-16 sale!..
Sweden is not the only condition of the members in Congress!.. This is just one of them... They also want a guarantee that the F-16s will not be used against Greece and for us to stop the operations in Syria.
THIS IS WHY THEY PRESSED THE BUTTON ON TERROR
Following our 12 martyrs, a pro-government writer claimed that because of the work Turkey has done in the face of the Gaza genocide, the US pressed the button on the PKK/PYD, saying, “Turn from the outside to the inside. Drop Gaza from your agenda.”
It is obvious how seriously the Organization of Islamic Cooperation or the Arab League takes Turkey's work and proposals, not just the US, the protector of Israel, and other imperialists.
Therefore, the main reason the US pressed the button on terror is not Gaza, but the issue of Sweden's NATO membership.
It was expected from those who issued a declaration for our 12 martyrs in Parliament that they would “stand firm and say 'Never!'” But not only was this not mentioned, but on the very Friday we gave our first 6 martyrs, it was announced that the Turkish Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee would discuss the protocol for Sweden's accession to NATO the next day. After our 12 martyrs, perhaps out of shame, it was emphasized that Sweden was at the end of the Committee's agenda.
I intended to say, “I hope the Turkish Parliament does not give a Christmas gift to the US.” But do you know what was published in the Official Gazette the day before yesterday?
With the Presidential Decree No. 7976 signed by Erdoğan, visa exemption was granted to citizens of the USA holding ordinary passports, in addition to those of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and the Sultanate of Oman, for tourist trips to our country for 90 days every 180 days.
If it could not even be thought to postpone this decision for a while when we have 12 martyrs, who can we expect what from?!
