Jeffrey Epstein was thought to be an American financier and businessman. However, it emerged that he was a “child sex offender, serial rapist, and human trafficker,” and that he used the blackmail system he established in connection with these relationships to influence the politics and economies of many countries around the world.
Even the Epstein documents released by the US Department of Justice so far have been enough to shake many countries. For example, in Norway, following the proof of connections between Epstein and individuals in “trusted and central positions,” the Norwegian Parliament unanimously agreed a few days ago to establish an independent commission of inquiry to examine the matter. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, who stated that the files released by the US “clearly show that if you are rich enough, it is possible to buy influence and abuse it,” also made these important points:
“Reasonable questions have been raised as to whether these connections are contrary to the law and many aspects of society's ethical rules. It is of great importance that these situations and the questions they raise are clarified and the facts are brought to light.”
The relationship between US President Trump, who frequently says he loves Erdoğan very much, and Epstein is also well-known; it has been said that he lashed out at everyone just to keep this issue off the agenda. Finally, regarding the attack on Iran, even Abdülkadir Selvi said, “Trump is caught by Israel in the Epstein documents.”
ALL FIVE REMAINED SILENT
In the days when the Epstein documents were still hot, the incident had repercussions in our country as well.
When it emerged that Epstein's private jet had come to Turkey 9 times and that the names of some Turks were mentioned in certain correspondence, it was first questioned whether missing children, especially in earthquake zones, had any connection to this disgusting network.
It was during that process that IYI Party Tekirdağ MP Selcan Taşçı directed various questions to exactly 5 ministers with the motions she submitted.
In these motions dated February 6, Taşçı first made the following observations:
“The Jeffrey Epstein case files released by the US Department of Justice have brought global criminal networks related to child sexual abuse, human trafficking, and disappearances back to the agenda. The published documents have significantly changed the ranking of potential threats in the perspective on missing child cases. The issue of missing children is also frequently on the agenda in Turkey, especially in earthquake zones. The public outrage caused by the allegations that Epstein's private jet, the Lolita Express, came to Turkey 9 times, that Turkish children were kidnapped abroad with this private jet, that Incirlik Air Base was used to kidnap Turkish children, and that Epstein sent millions of dollars to Turkey through intermediary banks in Russia is evident. Likewise, the fact that the names of some well-known Turks are included in the files deepens the suspicions regarding missing children in Turkey whose fate has not been determined.”
She then directed these important questions to the following ministers:
To the then Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç; “Has an investigation or inquiry been initiated to determine whether there is a link between the missing child cases in Turkey and the international abuse and human trafficking network revealed by the Epstein files?.. Within the scope of the Epstein files conducted in the US and reflected in the public, has any contact, information sharing, or judicial cooperation been established between the US judicial authorities conducting the investigation and the authorized institutions of the Republic of Turkey?.. Has any information/document request been made regarding the citizens of the Republic of Turkey mentioned in the files?.. Are there any public officials who have negligence, delay, or institutional responsibility in the investigations regarding missing child cases in Turkey; has this been investigated, and if so, has any administrative or judicial action been taken to date? Has it been investigated/will it be investigated whether the people who have negligence in missing cases have international connections regarding the global criminal network revealed by the Epstein files?”
To Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan; “Is there any information, document, flight record, bank transaction, etc., requested by your Ministry from US authorities regarding the allegations concerning Turkey, Turkish citizens, or Turkish territory in relation to the crimes subject to the Epstein case?”
To the then Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya; “What is our current total number of missing children?.. What is the number of children whose identities could not be determined and whose fate could not be determined as a result of the forensic criminal identification studies carried out after the February 6 earthquakes?.. Does your Ministry have any passport or border crossing records regarding the entry and exit of individuals alleged to be part of the Epstein criminal organization (those involved in tasks such as human trafficking, finding children, etc.)?.. Are there any cases of children who were found to have entered Turkey via military air bases or private flights in the last ten years but whose entry could not be detected or who were understood to be unregistered?.. Within the scope of the allegations in the Epstein files, is there any information, warning, or cooperation request forwarded to your Ministry by the authorized authorities of the US or other countries?”
To Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler; “Is there any information in your Ministry's records regarding Jeffrey Epstein's private jet using Incirlik Air Base for landing, takeoff, or transit purposes?.. Is there any special inspection or risk prevention mechanism implemented by your Ministry to protect military air bases against human trafficking and the illegal transport of children?”
To Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu; “Is there a record in your Ministry that Jeffrey Epstein's private jet landed in Turkey?.. Is there any special inspection, notification, or control mechanism implemented by your Ministry for the transport of children or unaccompanied persons on private jets entering Turkey?.. Although Incirlik Air Base has military status, is the radar trace, flight plan, or airspace crossing record regarding these flights kept within your Ministry due to the fact that private jets landing at or taking off from this base use Turkish airspace; if so, has Epstein's plane used Incirlik Air Base?.. Has any request been forwarded to your Ministry from the authorized authorities of the US or other countries for the sharing of this information?”
THEY DID NOT EVEN ANSWER THEIR ALLIANCE PARTNER
We first shared Selcan Taşçı's questions because she was one of the MPs who submitted the most motions on this subject. Otherwise, many MPs have brought the issue to the agenda since February 1.
Let us state by parties; 7 MPs from CHP submitted 11, 7 MPs from IYI Party submitted 18, 3 MPs from DEM submitted 8, 3 MPs from Saadet Party submitted 3, one each from TİP and Yeniden Refah Party, and furthermore, two MPs from the People's Alliance partner HÜDA-PAR also submitted one question motion each. Thus, the number of question motions submitted by a total of 24 MPs reached 46.
The addressees, apart from the names to whom Selcan Taşçı submitted motions, were Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, the new Ministers of Justice and Interior Akın Gürlek and Mustafa Çiftçi, and the Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş.
Let us remind you that it is a legal obligation for MPs' written question motions to be answered within 15 days at the latest, and let us come to the conclusion.
If we do not count the one submitted to the Minister of Transport on February 4 and answered only on March 9 with “We have no information or documents,” the ministers, as if they had agreed, did not answer the questions about Epstein not only from the opposition parties but even from the HÜDA-PAR MPs.
Beyond the fact that it is seen and shown once again that the importance and weight of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey have disappeared thanks to the new regime; what could be the reason for the government's deep silence on the Epstein issue?!
Note: Feeling the pain of children massacred all over the world, especially in Gaza and Iran, and people thrown into prison unjustly and unlawfully, happy holidays...
