During the first "opening" process, negotiation tables were set up in İmralı. HDP deputies acted as couriers between İmralı, Ankara, Qandil, and Europe. Those who said, "One does not negotiate with terror, one fights it," led by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, were accused of being "those who want mothers to cry and those who feed on terror and blood."
There is not much that has changed in the second opening process. The most important difference is that this time Bahçeli has taken on the task, yet he maintains the view that "There is no bargaining with terror, no negotiations are held, only and only a fight is waged!"
The current slogan of the government and its partners is "a Turkey without terror." Who wouldn't want that?! The important thing is whether this will be achieved through bargaining over the unitary and national structure of the Republic of Turkey or through struggle. And now, they are accusing those who ask these questions and oppose the terrorist leader being treated as a legitimate interlocutor of "engaging in provocation."
WHO IS THIS PENCWENI?
The process is well-known.
Bahçeli proposed that the terrorist leader in İmralı come to Parliament to call on his organization to lay down its arms, and in return, be allowed to benefit from the "right to hope" and be released from prison.
When he saw that wasn't working, he suggested that a DEM delegation go to İmralı. Instead of the current co-chairs of DEM, the regulars of İmralı, Pervin Buldan and Sırrı Süreyya Önder, were sent. The terrorist leader stated that he was "competent and determined to provide the necessary contribution to the new paradigm empowered by Mr. Bahçeli and Mr. Erdoğan."
Buldan and Önder went to see Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş and the parties in Parliament to provide information about the İmralı meetings. In the meantime, they visited the former co-chairs of the HDP, Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ, who are in prison, and received their support for the process.
MHP leader Bahçeli announced his "firm and uncompromising expectation" regarding the second İmralı meeting of the DEM delegation at his party's last parliamentary group meeting on January 14:
"At the conclusion of the meeting, it must be announced without setting any conditions that the organizational existence of the PKK has ended, that no results can be achieved through terror, and that this bloody page has been closed at the cost of many sacrifices."
But it didn't happen again. The delegation returned with the answer: "Mr. Öcalan's work regarding the process is ongoing. Once his preparations on this matter are completed, the necessary statements will be made to the public."
In an article we wrote recently, we predicted: "After the DEM delegation meets with the terrorist leader, they are going door to door... It appears that after the second İmralı visit, the turn will likely come for the PKK members in Europe, and even those in Qandil."
The day before yesterday, we learned that on Friday evening, Pervin Buldan met with politician Muhammed Emin Pencweni, known for his proximity to the PKK in the Barzanistan region, and not only provided information about the health status of the terrorist leader and conveyed his special greetings, but also said that the delegation would soon "visit the Kurdistan region and meet with him after the political party leaders there," and furthermore, that the terrorist leader would soon "send a letter to Qandil to provide information, and that they would convey the incoming response to Öcalan."
There is more. We understand these from the statements made by Pencweni.
- Everyone seems to agree that the Kurdish issue should be resolved in the Turkish Parliament. The terrorist leader is also working day and night for this solution, but the process is not easy...
- The resolution of the Kurdish issue and the problems between the PKK and Turkey on the basis of parliament must include constitutional and legal guarantees regarding the existence and rights of the Kurds...
- The PKK is demanding international guarantees regarding laying down arms and wants major powers to be involved in the process...
Who is this Pencweni? We pointed out the similarities; Pencweni's name came up quite a bit during the first process as well. For example, the terrorist leader said the following about this person in his meetings with the delegation at that time:
"There was a possibility of a solution during the period of Emre Bey [former MIT Undersecretary Emre Taner]. It was going to happen within 5 years. There were messages sent through Pencweni and such. By the way, if you see him, give my regards to Pencweni... A law is needed for a return without arms. We discussed a bit in the delegation whether this could be in the package. Those we met with in the past had said they would pass a law. They had said so when Pencweni also made an initiative. Give him my regards too... Give my regards to Pencweni, his candidacy in the elections could be supported. Wouldn't he be a candidate for us?... Visit Pencweni every time you go, he is a valuable person. I was going to make him my Iraq representative, but his health does not permit it."
Let us end this section with the following question to all parties, especially Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, who welcomed the İmralı delegation with great fanfare:
Did Pervin Buldan share what she told Pencweni with you as well?!
LOOK AT THIS OBSTACLE
In the first process, the leader of the terrorist organization stated that "the fragmentation of the National Pact (Misak-ı Milli) after 1925 was actually the fragmentation of the Kurds," and that "when he said 'Middle East Confederation,' he was talking about reviving this," and drew the following framework:
"You know, the EU started as a Coal and Steel Community, then it came to these days. For our geography, water is the same. The Tigris-Euphrates waters are actually the argument for integration, just like the Coal and Steel Community caused. We do not want to be enemies with anyone. This union covers Turkey, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon."
Let's look at the atmosphere in Ankara today. Erdoğan and Bahçeli explain the justification for the new process, which they call "a Turkey without terror" and "Turkish-Kurdish brotherhood," with the following expressions:
"Today is the day to make peace, stability, and security dominant throughout our geography... The locks of Turkey have been broken, and the rise of peace has appeared on the stage of history... We are on our feet to end terror and rewrite history with regional stability."
On the day it was revealed that Pervin Buldan had informed Pencweni about the "solution," the AKP held its third constitutional workshop. AKP Deputy Chairman Hayati Yazıcı said the following in his assessment regarding the workshops:
"We reiterate our call to all political parties to make a civil and inclusive constitution, whose founder is the nation, without putting forward any preconditions, and we continue our work to reach this goal. In a period when global and regional changes are accelerating; when threats, opportunities, and risks manifest themselves in every field, we are determined to make a new social contract for the breakthroughs that will make our Turkey and our nation the subject of history."
Good heavens; so the only obstacle to "making our Turkey and our nation the subject of history" was the Constitution!!
Then let us ask:
Which parts of the Constitution will be changed so that our country and nation will become the "subject of history"?!
