First Iraq, then Syria and Libya, and now Iran. This is what we call the GMEP (Greater Middle East Project). There is no need to remind anyone of the project's co-chairs. Nuclear weapons, uranium; it is all just an excuse. Countries perceived as a threat to Israel are being dismantled one by one and forced into total submission to the US-Israel axis.
Abdülkadir Selvi, the voice of the government, had commented 28 days before the attack on Iran that took place the other morning, giving February 19 as the date for the attack: “The holy month of Ramadan begins in the Islamic world on February 19. It is said that if there is no intervention by February 19, it will be left until after Eid al-Fitr.”
As if the imperialists and Zionists cared at all!.. Didn't they hang Saddam on the morning of Eid al-Adha?!
IT WAS AS IF ''THE PRESIDENT WOULD SOLVE IT''
It was exactly one month ago; Erdoğan and Trump held a phone call where the “main agenda” was Iran.
Although it was never mentioned in the official statements of either side, Hande Fırat from Hürriyet explained that Ankara had stepped in and conducted shuttle diplomacy, acting almost as a “buffer line” just as it did during the 12-day wars in June, and then announced that during that phone call, Erdoğan had “called for bringing the US and Iran together in a tripartite meeting to be held at the highest level, which would also include Turkey,” that “the possibility of this being done via teleconference could come to the agenda,” and that “Trump looked favorably upon this proposal.”
While this claim made the front page of Hürriyet with the headline “Let me bring you together,” Editor-in-Chief Ahmet Hakan also wrote, “Hande’s bombshell news... While we were all fortune-telling, saying ‘he’s about to strike, he’s about to strike’... It seems the President will solve this through negotiations.”
However, that negotiating table was set up in other countries, not in Turkey. This time, the pro-government media writers blamed Iran in unison.
As is known, after the attack that began on Saturday, Israeli state television reported that “the negotiations conducted with Iran were held to gain time.” While Ahmet Hakan was listing “seven things we must keep in our minds like a nail,” he placed the following in the first and fourth spots:
“Whenever the US sits down to negotiate with Iran, know that its only goal is to try to gain time to attack... For Israel and the US, the meaning of Ramadan is this: The month of Ramadan is the most suitable month to kill Muslims.”
In the end, he emphasized this:
“The US/Iran negotiations were almost going to be in Istanbul... It is a good thing Turkey did not become a tool in this ugly game.”
This is the state of the pro-government media. Let us also listen to Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who played a very important role in the shuttle diplomacy. 19 days before the attack, he explained the following on Ahmet Hakan’s program 'Tarafsız Bölge' on CNN Türk:
“The region is in no state to handle a war that might break out. We believe that all means should be used to prevent a possible war. Two days ago, the Americans met in Oman. They held indirect talks. Abbas Araghchi (Iranian Foreign Minister) gave us information about the negotiations. We have also met with the Americans; we are in contact with both sides. It is a difficult issue to reach a conclusion on immediately... At the moment, there does not seem to be an immediate threat of war. The door has been left ajar, and the parties are trying to advance the process... If Iran were to be subjected to a major attack, the response could also include attacks on regional countries. The striking of US bases under the guise of an attack could lead to the spread of a regional war. We are right next door; there is no telling where this will lead.”
To the question, “Will the regime in Iran be toppled by an airstrike?” Fidan replied, “No, it will not. The regime in Iran will not change through an airstrike or anything else. That is an empty dream.”
DID THE US NOTIFY TURKEY?
Yes, Ankara conducted shuttle diplomacy; but despite the calls from the opposition, it did not announce that Turkish airspace, Incirlik, and Kürecik would not be used in a possible attack.
Let us come to Saturday, when the attack began. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez stated that he rejected both the unilateral attacks by the US and Israel and the actions of Iran, and the Iraqi government announced that it would not accept the use of its national territory and airspace as a transit or exit point for attacks against Iran.
Turkey’s first official statement came around noon from our Embassy in Tehran. The Embassy called on Turkish citizens to “refrain from going out” and to “return to the country by land.”
While the Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited “the parties to end the attacks as soon as possible” around 16:00, it noted that “Turkey is ready to provide the necessary support regarding mediation.” Along with this, it was announced that Minister Hakan Fidan had spoken with the foreign ministers of seven countries in the Gulf to discuss the steps that could be taken to end the attacks.
In the meantime, we learned of Turkey’s position on the occasion of a statement made by the Presidential Communications Directorate regarding certain posts and images. In the statement in question, it was said: “The Republic of Turkey does not allow any of its air, land, or sea elements, including its airspace, to be used for operational purposes in favor of any party in any conflict or war to which it is not a party. This matter is among our country’s fundamental foreign policy and security principles. Turkey’s sovereign rights over its air, land, and sea space are absolute and indisputable. All activities regarding our sovereign areas are carried out solely in line with the Republic of Turkey’s national security assessments and under the supervision and control of authorized bodies.”
THE SILENCE OF ERDOĞAN AND BAHÇELİ
While almost all opposition parties spoke about the Iranian attack throughout the day, Erdoğan and Bahçeli did not open their mouths until after iftar.
Let us start with Bahçeli. Although this time he did not propose a “TRÇ-Turkey, Russia, and China alliance” against the “US-Israel evil coalition,” he clearly blamed both the US and Israel, emphasizing that “operations carried out without waiting for the results of the negotiations conducted with Iran are unjust, unlawful, and open to widespread threats,” and said, “It is unacceptable for Islamic lands to be plunged into darkness during the holy month of Ramadan... Those who destroy the sanctity and affection of the month of Ramadan are dirty centers that have not received their share of humanity.”
As for Erdoğan; after using an expression like “The wars between Iran and the Gulf in recent days are not something to be forgotten,” he stated that he felt “deep sadness and concern over the America-Israel attacks that began with Netanyahu’s provocations against our neighbor Iran.” Continuing, while again accusing Israel of “poisoning the process,” he emphasized that he also found Iran’s missile and drone attacks on US bases in the region “unacceptable” and again spoke of “diplomatic efforts.”
While the management echelon of our neighbor, co-religionist, border-neighbor, and history-neighbor Iran—including its religious leader Khamenei this time—has been almost wiped out, these are the only assessments made. Let us note that in the same speech, Erdoğan devoted more space to the February 28 process from 29 years ago and said “February 28” exactly 12 times.
THE IMMUNITY OF TRUMP, THE US'S ''FIRST JEWISH PRESIDENT''
Israeli President Herzog, whom Erdoğan hosted at the Palace in 2022 and who was welcomed by cavalry units carrying Turkish and Israeli flags, described Trump, whom he thanked for making a “historic and courageous decision” after the Iranian attack, as the “leader of the free world.”
How did Trump, the “child killer,” boast on the first day of the attack? He addressed the Iranians, saying it was “time for freedom”... He said that the Khamenei they slaughtered was “one of the worst people in history”... And he emphasized that “the attacks on Iran have made a diplomatic solution easier, it is a great day for the world.”
Why is he so comfortable and reckless? Because a few months ago he openly admitted that he was “the US’s first Jewish president.”
This is our “friend and ally” whose name Ankara cannot even mention, and whom it has almost wrapped in a shield of immunity!..
Why is it not said that “The world is bigger than Trump”?..
Why is there no leadership in having Trump tried at the International Criminal Court?..
At the very least, why is there no mourning declared for Khamenei and the schoolgirls who were slaughtered, like the King of Saudi Arabia or Hamas leader Haniyeh did; what is the obstacle?!
While everyone in their right mind sees that after Iran, it will be Turkey’s turn, what could be the reason for this comfort in Ankara; if they would explain it, we could learn too!..
In short; at least this time, let us stand on the right side of history, not the GMEP!..
