The great Turkish Nation gave both the government and the opposition a true April 1st surprise in the elections on Sunday.
For days, people have been debating “Why did this happen? How did this happen?” and trying to draw various conclusions.
The government wing, which for 22 years has failed to see the log in its own eye while focusing on the specks in the eyes of the opposition, is now looking for someone to blame.
Yet, the whole world knows that not a leaf stirs in this country without Erdoğan's knowledge. Even if his men made mistakes, wasn't it he who chose them?
Remember the May elections; they lived and breathed the issue of the “survival of the country.” However, as we approached the March 31 elections, our survival problem grew even greater due to the wars to our south and north, the occupations in the Aegean, and, above all, the rhetoric aimed at pitting the nation against one another.
Again, in the May elections, they said: “LGBT individuals will destroy our families.” We saw that the greatest threat to families was, in fact, empty cooking pots. Why the pots were not boiling was now as clear as day. While they rushed to help the oppressed of the world, they created millions of oppressed people in their own country... While they put Syrians, Afghans, and Africans on a pedestal, they deemed the Turkish Nation worthy of second-class treatment... While they showered money on contractors, foundations, and religious sects, they withheld pennies from the retirees who are the laborers of this country... While mothers could not feed their children milk and eggs, they did not compromise on their luxuries and ostentation in the slightest.
What else? Allegiance replaced merit... Cries for justice reached the heavens... Those who once said, “Do not be proud, my Sultan, there is a God greater than you,” turned into monuments of arrogance... The “3 Ps” (Poverty, Plunder, Prohibitions) were made the fate of the nation.
Indeed, if it is true, Erdoğan also highlighted at the MYK meeting the other day the “complaints coming from citizens,” and the “negative attitudes starting to be seen in the party administration; provincial, district, and town organizations, mayors, members of parliament, and the bureaucracy,” and underlined “the importance of getting rid of these and fighting against them.” [https://www.hurriyet.com.tr/gundem/son-dakika-ak-parti-mykdan-aciklama-erdogan-milletin-sandiga-kusmesinin-asil-nedeni-pahalilik-42440200]
Do you see?
A nation cannot be taken over by seizing the state or by saying “I am the state.”
Especially if the people in front of you are the “Crazy Turks”!..
“THEY TOUCHED THE DIVINE WRATH”
I asked a former MHP executive how he evaluated the election results. He gave this one-sentence answer:
“They touched the divine wrath (Gayretullah).”
What is this?
There is a parable written 3 years ago by Deputy President of Religious Affairs Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burhan İşliyen, with the emphasis that; “Events are occurring where values considered sacred even in corrupted religions, let alone Islam, are being trampled upon, and the ugliest sins and forbidden acts are being committed and spread. Lust, fame, and wealth are leading people astray.” [https://www.diyanethaber.com.tr/gayretullaha-dokunmak]. The parable is as follows:
“A strange dervish's path was to cross the desert, but he did not dare to set out alone. He waited by the side of the road and asked the caravan leader of a caravan that would cross the desert to accept him into the caravan until they crossed the desert. With the permission of the caravan leader, they were halfway through the desert road when they were raided by bandits. While the bandits were taking everything in the caravan, the strange dervish shouted after them: ‘The vest on the caravan leader is very valuable, take that too.’ The bandits turned back and took that too... The caravan leader, who had lost all his possessions in the middle of the desert, turned to the dervish and said: ‘The bandit's actions did not weigh as heavily on me as yours. We saw you on the road, we took you in; we fed you, we gave you water. What evil did you see from us that you even had the bandits take my vest?!’ The dervish said: ‘Sir, their cruelty, torment, and transgression had increased so much that there were only four fingers left until they touched the divine wrath. I hope that vest closes those four fingers.’ According to the parable, after a while, soldiers on patrol capture the bandits and return the goods to their owners.”
LIKE THE AMASYA CIRCULAR: THE NATION'S DETERMINATION AND RESOLVE
Erdoğan said at the AKP MYK meeting that “the 22-year struggle must not be allowed to be wasted.”
Well, the nation showed in the elections on Sunday that it would not allow the gains of the 100-year-old Republic to be wasted.
The country had been left without brakes, and while it was rolling at full speed toward the bottom of the abyss, that election was the last branch to hold onto before crashing.
And the nation grabbed that branch in a desperate struggle for survival.
This is definitely not the success of the opposition.
It is the result of the “nation's determination and resolve,” as foreseen in Atatürk's Amasya Circular [https://tr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amasya_Genelgesi].
The nation has done its duty.
From now on, there are two paths ahead of the opposition.
Either they will sit back and do nothing as they have for years, get bogged down in petty calculations, continue the “go along to get along” mentality, hope for help from separatists, try to curry favor with imperialists, and waste this last opportunity.
Or they will work day and night to be worthy of the nation.
Long live the Turkish Nation...
And how happy is the one who says I am a Turk!..
