Police officer's opposition to the 'opening' process linked to 'Insulting the President'... Dismissal from civil service requested!

It has been concluded that Traffic Police Officer Onur Şener, who opposed the PKK 'opening' process with a speech he gave at a tram stop in Eskişehir on the evening of December 5, should be dismissed from the civil service on the charge of "criticizing state policy." Furthermore, an Instagram post by Şener comparing Sheikh Said to Fetullah Gülen was deemed an "insult to the President," and it was requested that he be both dismissed from the civil service and subjected to a judicial investigation.

As will be recalled, 30-year-old police officer Onur Şener said the following at the tram stop:

"Those who win elections by saying Öcalan will be released and then enter a race to call that Öcalan 'sir' will surely lose. You will stand with the Turkish Nation. This country was not founded easily. I was born on June 7, 1995, in Kayseri. I am from Yozgat. I grew up in MHP congresses in Kayseri. Damn it. Are there no other men left for you to walk with? Every day, people close to the organization shamelessly and brazenly scratch our nerve endings. Apo is going to be released. The East-Southeast will become Kurdistan. These are dreams. You will be crushed under them. Do not trust politicians. This is Turkey; the Turkish Nation always has the final say here. I haven't been able to sleep since this process began."

Following the sharing of footage of the incident on social media, the General Directorate of Security announced at jet speed that Onur Şener had been suspended from duty and that an investigation had been launched to examine all aspects of the matter, with a Chief Police Inspector assigned to the case. Meanwhile, allegations were made that Onur Şener might be a "FETÖ" member. He made two statements to both respond to this and thank those who supported him.

The disciplinary investigation conducted by the chief police inspectors regarding Onur Şener has now been completed, and the report on the matter was submitted to the General Directorate of Security in recent days.

"With the Authority Granted by Atatürk"

According to the information we have obtained, Onur Şener was questioned not only about that speech and his subsequent statements but also about posts he had made on his Instagram account in the past.

In his defense regarding his speech at the tram stop and his subsequent statements, Şener reminded the public of the oppression and massacres committed by the terrorist leader in Imralı and the PKK terrorist organization against our Kurdish-origin citizens, and after emphasizing that their ultimate goal was to realize Israel's 'Greater Israel' (Eretz Yisrael) project within the scope of the Greater Middle East Initiative (BOP), he stated the following:

"Despite the fact that the process of portraying the aforementioned person not as the murderer of 50 thousand innocent people but as a political figure, and granting him legitimacy, deeply wounds the great Turkish Nation, especially our martyr families, our veterans, and our heroic police and TSK members who have fought against terrorism for years; these are posts I made regarding the decision to suspend me from duty after I tried to protect my homeland by sharing this thought of mine with people, with the authority granted to me by the Constitution and the Commander-in-Chief Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our state. I cannot understand why this post of mine, which does not constitute a violation of the Constitution or the laws, was directed at me as a question. If I am being suspended from duty after doing this in the face of this entire situation, this decision is my honor today, tomorrow, and always."

The Sheikh Said-Fetullah Gülen Post

The most striking question directed at police officer Onur Şener concerned his post stating, "Sheikh Said and Fetullah Gülen are the same. The only difference is that one could not deceive the President at the time." Şener answered this question as follows:

"Yes, Sheikh Said and Fetullah are the same. One rebelled against this state and said, 'Killing one Turk is more meritorious than killing seventy infidels,' and the other rained bombs on our nation on the night of July 15 and attempted a coup. Both have cast aspersions on the existence of the state and the lives of the nation. Both have cloaked themselves in the guise of religion, deceiving our nation in this way and committing treason against the homeland. People can be deceived, people can be fooled; this is natural. However, statesmen should be as undeceived as possible. Ultimately, Sheikh Said could not deceive Commander-in-Chief Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and paid the price for his treason. However, after the attempt the FETÖ leader tried to carry out, the President himself said, 'May both our Lord and our nation forgive us.' This post is a statement of fact."

In the investigation report, it was stated that the identity of the user of the account that shared the speech at the tram stop could not be reached and therefore their connection to Onur Şener could not be determined; furthermore, it was noted that although Şener made the speech after working hours, "because he was in uniform, it aroused more curiosity in the public, the street where the incident took place was closed to vehicle traffic, tram services were delayed by approximately 2 minutes, and footage of the incident was shared on numerous national news channels," and the following evaluations were made:

- "Although Onur Şener, who admitted to the speech and the Instagram posts, stated that he did not target any person or institution, did not insult anyone, only shared his own feelings and thoughts, did not stop the tram, and did not obstruct traffic flow; with his speech made in official uniform on the street while stopping the tram, he made statements regarding current politics that criticized the activities of the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission assigned by the TBMM, criticized the policy created by the state on a subject, and incited a mass against the state and some political parties..."

- "That the post on his Instagram account identified as belonging to him, 'Sheikh Said and Fetullah are the same. The only difference is that one could not deceive the President at the time,' constitutes an insult to our President..."

- "That after the press release regarding his suspension, he displayed a critical and belittling attitude toward his superiors in his posts such as, 'My name is Onur (Honor), I am honored. It is my certificate of honor'..."

- "That he displayed attitudes incompatible with his official capacity outside of service with his other posts containing political content and references to some political figures..."

Following these evaluations, it was requested that Onur Şener be dismissed from the civil service on the grounds that he "displayed behavior incompatible with the capacity of a civil servant" with his speech at the tram stop, and that he "engaged in belittling, disgraceful, and shameful acts that went beyond the limits of criticism toward our President, who currently holds the office of the Presidency," with his post about Sheikh Said and Fetullah Gülen.

In addition, it was recommended that he be given a 24-month long-term and a 6-month short-term salary suspension penalty, characterizing his statements after the incident as "behavior aimed at belittling his superiors" and his other posts as "critical references to political offices and figures in a manner unbecoming of his official capacity."

In the report, while attention was drawn to the fact that Onur Şener's Instagram account had 74.2 thousand followers as of December 29, it was stated: "The fact that a large number of people follow his social media account, thereby providing a basis for having a negative opinion about the Police organization, and a police officer who is still serving as a civil servant criticizing state policies and making critical references to state dignitaries are attitudes unbecoming of the personnel of the Police organization, which is the symbol of discipline and order."

Will Testify for 'Insulting the President'

These are the penalties requested administratively against police officer Onur Şener, who opposed the opening process.

It has also emerged that the inspectors, simultaneously with the disciplinary report, filed a criminal complaint with the Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Onur Şener on the grounds of the "insulting the President" charge and for causing "tram services to wait for approximately 2 extra minutes due to the incident that occurred."

Onur Şener's lawyer, retired Police Chief and July 15 veteran Fatih Eryılmaz, stated that they would testify to the Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office tomorrow regarding these accusations, while limiting his comments on the inspector's report to the following:

"There are those who are uncomfortable with the investigation opened against nurses who participated in an act of support for the PKK/PYD terrorist organization. However, it is requested that police officer Onur Şener, who said, 'Apo should not be taken as an interlocutor,' be dismissed from the civil service. The discretion belongs to the great Turkish Nation."
