The name that was made an AKP member is unbelievable!...

Media Ombudsman Faruk Bildirici made a post on April 1st announcing that he had been made a member of the AKP.

It was not an April Fool's joke; it was real. Bildirici reacted by saying, “They made me an AKP member without my knowledge. This is political immorality...” and announced that he would file a criminal complaint.

Subsequently, it emerged that a large number of people had been registered as AKP members without their knowledge.

While no explanation came from the authorities, we learned yesterday from Cumhuriyet the result of the criminal complaint filed with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office by a citizen named M.C., who was shown as an AKP member, for “forgery of official and private documents, unlawful acquisition and dissemination of personal data, and violation of the privacy of private life.”

Although M.C. wrote “unknown perpetrator” in the “suspect” field because he did not know who had registered him, the Prosecutor's Office, as a result of its investigation, named a person working in a district branch, but ultimately decided that “there is no room for prosecution.”

In the justification for the decision, it was stated that “the fact that the suspect was authorized to perform transactions in the system does not mean that they performed the transaction personally,” and after drawing attention to people's “right not to be stigmatized,” it was said, “since it is understood that no definitive and convincing evidence could be obtained...”

Let us also convey the assessment of this decision by former Ankara Public Prosecutor, Attorney Bülent Yücetürk.

Reminding that according to the Law on Political Parties, those who “show and register those who have not applied or do not exist as members” are punishable by “one to three years in prison,” and additionally, due to the “unlawful acquisition of personal data,” they are punishable by “two to four years in prison,” Attorney Yücetürk continued as follows:

“What the Prosecutor's Office should do is to identify the person who acquired the personal data and registered the individual to a political party without their knowledge, and to file a public lawsuit against them. The Prosecutor's Office did not take any action, only conducted an examination through the digital system, determined that there was no evidence, and issued a decision of non-prosecution. If there is a crime committed, the Prosecutor's Office must find the perpetrator... It is against procedure for the Prosecutor's Office to register the named person as a suspect and issue a non-prosecution decision without conducting an investigation, citing the right to ‘not be stigmatized.’ An effective investigation has not been conducted, and existing evidence has not been collected. It is against our criminal procedure law for the Prosecutor's Office to cover up an existing crime.”

WHAT HAPPENED IN SİNCAN PRISON?

It has been claimed for some time that a large number of detainees, mostly consisting of names who have been in Ankara Sincan Prison since 2016 for participating in the July 15 coup attempt, were also registered with the AKP in an “unknown” manner.

As a result of our research on this, it turned out that the allegations were true, and furthermore, such an unbelievable name was registered with the AKP!...

Before revealing that name, let us explain what happened in Sincan Prison before last year's local elections.

The Sincan 1st District Election Board Presidency determined that as of February 3, the primary address of 12 people was registered as the prison, as a result of the examination it conducted on the list suspended in the wards or places determined by the administration regarding detainees and convicts for negligent crimes in the prison.

The situation was asked to the Supreme Election Council (YSK) Presidency. On February 10, the YSK stated; “In accordance with the Address Registration System Implementation Directive, since the prison cannot be shown as a primary address, detainees and convicts for negligent crimes who are understood to have shown the prison as their primary address should be deleted from the suspension list.”

The Sincan 1st District Election Board also decided on February 14 to delete these 12 people in this situation from the list, meaning they would not be able to vote.

Among the 12 detainees in question were; former Major General Mehmet Dişli, whom the then Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar said, “He had me arrested,” but whom he took with him to the Çankaya Mansion the next day and who was arrested after managing the crisis desk established there until 16:00; former Lieutenant General Metin İyidil, whose aggravated life sentence was overturned by the Court of Appeal and whose acquittal and release were decided, but who was re-arrested upon Erdoğan's reaction; as well as a former lieutenant general and brigadier general, and also former Air Force Commander Akın Öztürk, who is alleged to be the “number 1” of the coup.

Akın Öztürk, whose decision of the District Election Board was notified to him on February 23, immediately wrote a petition to both the District Population Directorate and the District Election Board.

Informing the Population Directorate that the prison address being written as the primary address occurred outside of his own will, Öztürk requested that “his home address be registered as the primary address so that his right to vote is not violated, and that the prison address be changed to another address, and that these changes be sent to the District Election Board and the prison.”

In the petition he sent to the District Election Board, Öztürk stated, “He has been detained in Sincan No. 1 F-Type Prison since 2016, and the registration of the prison as the primary address in the address system occurred outside of his will,” and after requesting that his name be included in the voter list again in accordance with the change to be made by the Population Directorate, he said, “I reserve the right to seek all kinds of legal rights in case I cannot vote.”

However, the result did not change; neither he nor the others could vote in the March 31 elections.

If Öztürk's claim is true; let us suffice by asking, “Why, how, and by whom were these people's primary addresses shown as the prison in the records?” and return to the issue of party membership.

It has been determined that many names among the July 15 defendants in Sincan Prison have been registered as members of the AKP Sincan Branch without their knowledge since 2023. Interestingly, there are also a few who were made CHP members. After this discovery made by the families, while their lawyers filed criminal complaints, most did not want their names to be disclosed, saying, “Let us not get into more trouble.”

But let us write the most important one; former General Akın Öztürk, who is called the “number 1” of the coup and could not vote in the March 31 elections, also learned recently that he has been an AKP member since 2023!...
