Was the report called the 'coup plotters' chaos plan' from the MIT?

In the retrial of the General Staff 'Roof' case, Hakan Evrim, who was the Akıncı Air Base commander on July 15, stated, "I reject the Court of Cassation." Former Rear Admiral Sinan Sürer also said that he was accused of preparing a chaos plan, but that this was an official document from the MIT, only 8 pages of which were brought to the agenda, while the other 11 pages contained serious allegations regarding the AKP, and when he wanted to explain these with their main headings, the Presiding Judge warned him to stay within the scope of the file.

In the fourth session of the case held today at the Sincan Prison complex by the Ankara 17th High Criminal Court, the statements of the defendants against the Court of Cassation's reversal decision continued to be taken.

One of the defendants, former Chief Petty Officer Derviş Taş, stated that he had accounted for his actions with his head held high and spoke as follows:

"And we did so by presenting evidence to the court that the court did not present to us. We are dead donkeys. We are no longer afraid of wolves or nonsensical accusations."

Former Petty Officer Sergeant İlyas Akyar also claimed that their oral defenses were not being listened to and their written defenses were not being read, and asked if there was any other way to defend themselves. The Presiding Judge replied, "Your oral defense is being listened to, and your written defense is being read."

THE ROOF HAS COLLAPSED

Former Brigadier General Hakan Evrim, who was the Akıncı Air Base commander on July 15, drew attention to the UN's decision regarding Akın Öztürk, which stated, "He was not tried fairly and should be released immediately," and said the following:

"I reject the Court of Cassation. Because the UN says, 'A fair trial was not conducted.' With this decision, the roof has collapsed, and the coup cases have been demolished entirely. I do not accept the previous trials or the judicial decisions. What we must do from now on is to identify who committed torture and who tried us unlawfully. They are all guilty. And the coup cases must be retried."

WHO LEAKED THE MIT REPORT?

During the statement of former Rear Admiral Sinan Sürer, the then-Head of the General Staff's 1st Intelligence Analysis and Evaluation Department, tension frequently arose due to the reaction shown by a relative of a martyr toward the defendants.

While Sürer stated that they were subjected to curses and insults from the complainants every time they entered the courtroom, the Presiding Judge warned the martyr's relative, who continued their reaction, saying, "If you are not going to listen, wait outside for a while, and I will take you in later. You are preventing us from conducting the hearing."

However, when the complainant's intervention continued, the Judge asked for them to be removed from the courtroom, while Sinan Sürer said, "I think they shouldn't leave; let them listen and understand. Otherwise, they won't be convinced."

Sürer, who began his statement with the phrase, "They lynched me because I had a weapon in my hand," continued as follows:

"It was claimed that I killed Yusuf Çelik. They looked at the ballistic examination, I wasn't there, so they gave up. This time they said, 'He prepared a chaos plan.' This was an official document from the MIT. But they leaked it to the press as if I had prepared it. The previous presiding judge, Oğuz Dik, did this too. No investigation was opened against me regarding this, and not a single question was asked. When I asked, Oğuz Dik said, 'It is not your handwriting.' 8 pages of that document were a chaos plan regarding the elections. Only this part was leaked. The other 11 pages were about the AK Party. Let me just state the main headings."

Upon this, the Presiding Judge asked Sürer to stay within the scope of the file. Sinan Sürer said, "In that case, if she is here, I will give it to Ms. Müyesser Yıldız."

Sürer continued his statement as follows:

"I am being accused of having blood on my hands, but there is no footage of me firing a shot. I asked for the ballistic reports many times, but they were not provided. Oğuz Dik said, 'Maybe we won't sentence you for this.' Is it possible that the ballistic examination of the weapon of someone who has been lynched this much was not conducted? The reports arrived in June 2022, and it turned out that my weapons were clean. But even if I built a road to the moon and drove a car on it, they wouldn't believe it. I challenge you, for the sake of God, show me one piece of evidence."

Upon the martyr's relative shouting, "Liar!", Sürer addressed both them and the Presidential lawyer Süleyman Ayhan as follows:

"May God curse the liar. If you have evidence you trust, let us curse each other. I didn't even fire a single bullet, let alone shoot someone. Come on, Mr. Süleyman, let us curse each other."

Finally, Sinan Sürer requested that numerous individuals who have voiced doubts about July 15, including Şamil Tayyar, Abdurrahman Dilipak, Yusuf Kaplan, Selim Temurci, Nihal Olçok, Aytun Çıray, and Veli Ağbaba, be heard as witnesses.

After Sürer's statements were completed, when the martyr's relative said, "May you experience the pain of losing a child," former Presidential Chief Aide Ali Yazıcı replied, "You are in our hearts. The murderers of your son are not among us," while former Lieutenant Colonel Özcan Karacan said the following:

"Our state provides the necessary financial and moral aid regarding the martyrs. This lady is still talking after benefiting from these kindnesses, and she doesn't even listen to us. After what has been said, even a stone of patience would crack. If we were to curse, then it would be said, 'He cursed the martyr's family.' Please, give the lady a right to speak or remove her. We are paying the price for what we did and did not do heavily enough. We and our families are already under financial and moral persecution. I am not telling this to make us look pitiful. Let them know that we are being persecuted. Let their hearts cool down a little, let them be at ease."
