2009… France had left NATO's military structure in 1967. In 2009, it wanted to return. Turkey approved France's return to NATO's military structure. Yet, France was among the countries providing the most support to the PYD/PKK terrorist organization. French foreign policy was also anti-Turkey. Turkey could have vetoed it, but it did not. The same France has now signed a military alliance agreement with Greece. It continues to provide aid to the PYD/PKK and take steps against Turkey.
On March 25, 2023, the so-called spokespersons of the YPG, the Syrian branch of the PKK terrorist organization, and its women's wing, the YPJ, were hosted in the French Senate. French lawmakers ceremoniously awarded the terrorists with a "medal of honor." (1) This is France… The question is: Why did Turkey approve this without France recognizing the PYD/YPG as a terrorist organization? It destroyed a strategic card… Why?..

2019… In 2019, Turkey played the card of having the PYD/YPG recognized as a terrorist organization in order to approve the 'NATO Baltic Plan,' which NATO attaches importance to. However, seven months later, it approved NATO's Poland and Baltic Plan without the PYD/YPG being recognized as a terrorist organization. Turkey lost the card… Why?..
August 30, 2022… The NATO Allied Land Command (LANDCOM) in İzmir celebrates the 100th anniversary of the August 30 Victory Day on its social media account: "Today is the 100th anniversary of Turkish independence. We stand with our Turkish allies in NATO and beyond in the celebration of Victory and the Turkish Armed Forces Day." (2)
Greece reacts to the post, describing NATO's post as an "unacceptable step." And, the weak Greece forces NATO to delete the congratulatory message. Yet, the same NATO had celebrated Greece's Independence Day in this manner on March 25, 2022.
At that time, Turkey had no objection. Despite this, Turkey could not prevent the message from being deleted. Was Turkey, a 71-year NATO member, not the second-largest power in NATO? Was Turkey, a NATO member, not more effective and powerful in NATO than Greece?..
Why?..

2023-2024… Turkey approved the NATO membership of Sweden and Finland without the PYD/YPG in Syria being recognized as a terrorist organization by NATO countries. Without any delay, it said "yes" in accordance with the tripartite memorandum signed before the summit. Subsequently, on March 31, 2023, Turkey officially approved Finland's NATO membership. And it gave this approval at a time when it was understood that the US was providing helicopters to the PKK terrorist organization.
On January 23, 2024, Turkey also said "yes" to Sweden's NATO membership. Turkey gave its approval before the US cut off support to the PKK/PYD and before it provided the F-35 aircraft that had already been paid for and the requested F-16s. A "yes" was given to Finland and Sweden.
By July 14, 2024, the US began producing excuses not to provide the F-16s it had promised. The NATO membership of Sweden and Finland should not have been approved without the F-16 aircraft being guaranteed. If Turkey had not given its approval for the NATO membership of Sweden and Finland and had instead used it as a card, it could have both ensured the recognition of the PYD/YPG as a terrorist organization and received the F-16 aircraft. And thus, Turkey lost a strategic card that is very difficult to obtain again in history… Why?..
At the current stage; the F-35 fighter jets that were paid for have not been delivered, the requested F-16 fighter jets have not been delivered, and the EU and NATO do not recognize the PYD/YPG as a terrorist organization. The US provides all kinds of support to the terrorist organization that threatens Turkey.

The year 2008… It was decided at the NATO Bucharest Summit that Macedonia would become a member. Greece did not approve the membership on the grounds that it was the heir to Alexander the Great and Macedonia. How many years do you think it kept them waiting at the door?.. Until 2018, for a full 11 years. Macedonia changed its name and became North Macedonia.
Afterward, Greece gave its approval just like that. There was no question of support for a terrorist organization threatening Greece. The weak and small Greece kept Macedonia waiting at the NATO door for 11 years. What did the powerful Turkey do?.. It lost the strategic card in its hand in one move…
***
Is this the principle of "reciprocity" in international relations? Is Turkey not more powerful in NATO than Greece?.. It must also be underlined with a thick line that the word rhetoric has no place in strategy…
This is the situation that Turkey, a giant in terms of its geographical location, has fallen into from a geopolitical perspective…
