Artificial intelligence is entering into use in all areas of life. One of these areas is human resources management. Today, many companies, especially in most technologically advanced countries, are using artificial intelligence in recruitment. There are some initiatives in this direction in Turkey, and in the coming years, we will all witness that job interviews will be conducted by artificial intelligence in most sectors.
It is necessary to take advantage of the opportunities of technology, of course, but many questions also come to mind regarding who will use it and how. Conducting job interviews, or in other words, interviews, by artificial intelligence is, of course, important for impartial and fair decision-making. With the introduction of artificial intelligence, perhaps many problems that occupy the agenda today will be resolved. Unlike humans, the machine will not incorporate emotions into the decision-making process and will be able to make a neutral assessment based on the criteria of suitability for the job. On the other hand, the machine will not ask the job applicant for a "he is a relative of mine" card under its own operating conditions, and will determine the most suitable person for the job in question.
Another important point is that quality and qualification come to the fore. The machine will reveal the entire story of each person it includes in the evaluation scope by tracking their digital footprint, and will decide on their suitability for the job accordingly. From the person's educational process to all their actions and experiences related to the job in question, their potential skills will be revealed through the digital probing of artificial intelligence, and the person's profile regarding that job will be obtained. Thus, the recruitment of the most suitable person for the job will be ensured. At least that's how it looks at first glance. It is clear that it will facilitate the process, but it is too early to say anything about its pros or cons.
The integration of technology, and therefore artificial intelligence, into all segments of life is inevitable, of course. However, the suitability of the social and cultural environment is also important for achieving the expected benefit from it. Just because it is called artificial intelligence does not mean it will make decisions independently of humans. The operator is still human, so the control is in human hands. In that case, for technology and artificial intelligence to do their job correctly, the human operating it must first be correct and adopt what is right. Therefore, the level of development of the society in which technology is located and operates is of great importance. It is in vain to expect artificial intelligence to make the right decision in a society where democratic and ethical values are not sufficiently developed. After all, the machine called artificial intelligence develops by feeding on the data of the society in which it becomes operational.
On the other hand, for artificial intelligence to be used at full capacity and correctly in recruitment, the management policies of institutions and companies must be sufficiently developed. For this, it is expected that the people in the management of the institution or company prioritize merit in business and work policies, have the maturity to put the interests of the institution and company above their own interests, and have the satisfaction to prioritize providing the conditions for improving the work quality of the institution's personnel instead of creating their own power areas within the institution. However, as a society, we still need a lot of time to reach this level. First of all, we need to get rid of our individual ambitions, our egos that are a nuisance to us, and overcome ourselves. Only then can it be possible to benefit from the opportunities of technology at the highest level.
In addition, for technology to be effectively integrated into life, all individuals in society must also have the competence to use technology. The only way to achieve this is education. Therefore, it is of great importance that education methods and techniques are reviewed and, if necessary, reorganized in a way that will provide the individual with competence in technology use. Since we are heading towards a world that will be shaped by technology, especially artificial intelligence technologies, it is essential to raise generations competent in technology use.
But competence in technology use is not enough; raising humanist generations who care about the use of technology for the benefit of humanity is also of great importance.
For truly democratic societies to be formed, there is a need for societies with a high level of consciousness consisting of individuals who are equipped with scientific knowledge, intellectually developed, able to make decisions with their own free will, able to criticize, and able to question. The human-like integration of technology into humanity is only possible with conscious societies.
Societies consisting of individuals with a high level of consciousness also have a high level of consciousness. In societies with a high level of consciousness, the use of technology for the benefit of humanity is possible, as is a much more qualified human resources management with the use of artificial intelligence.
