There is violence on the streets. Faces are sullen, gazes are angry. Everyone is looking for someone to pick a fight with. In traffic, knives and guns are drawn because someone didn't yield the right of way. On the street, on public transport, people push and shove each other, turning to violence at the slightest argument.
Love and respect have vanished, and there is no trace of conscience left. Adults, even parents, who have lost their humanity, do not grant babies the right to live. Children and women are being sacrificed to a diseased domination. Not a day goes by without a woman or a child falling victim to a brutal murder.
Society is terribly ill. Psychiatrists and psychologists say that eighty percent of the population uses antidepressant medication. So, there is a problem somewhere, and a very serious one at that. There was once benevolence, affection, respect, and love in this society. What happened now that we have reached this state? Or were we always like this and we just didn't know? In fact, we have never been able to create a fully stable, balanced, and peaceful environment as a society, but the dose of evil is gradually increasing. It is not just us; the sphere of influence of evil is gradually expanding and strengthening across the world. Savage capitalism, which prioritizes money, is making the world unbearable for humanity.
As humanity loses its values, other things become rising values. The problem stems precisely from this. The human being is losing its standing. Consequently, every kind of value unique to humans is facing a loss of meaning. For this reason, humans do not pity other humans and can kill them callously. For this reason, humans are indifferent to the nature that gives them existence and are ruthlessly destroying it. They are not even aware that destroying nature is actually their own destruction. And they probably don't even care. Because, in truth, it has been a long time since humanity ceased to exist. They are just not aware that they have ceased to exist. And that is actually the issue. Not being aware of one's own disappearance, and therefore not making any effort to find oneself.
Power relations are the rising value of today. The strong try to assert their existence by establishing dominance over those who are not as strong as themselves. This is the reason for men's violence against women. This is also the reason why adults do not grant babies and children the right to live. This is also behind the destruction of nature by those who derive their power from money.
The human being is a strange creature. From the ages when they first showed their existence, they began to struggle with the nature into which they were born. With the tools and equipment they produced, and with technology, they succeeded in defeating it. If this is a success, that is. They emerged victorious in the struggle. But it was not enough. They became eager to completely destroy the nature to which they owe their lives. And then, they began to create a culture based on destruction. The name of this new culture is evil.
Although their numbers are gradually decreasing these days, people have begun to make a serious effort to turn the world's compass from evil back to good. After all, it is never too late to turn back from a mistake. Everything is not completely over yet. There is hope for salvation. We can still hear the rustling of leaves in the wind, the sound of sea waves, and the chirping of birds. While we can still smell the soil in the rain and the flowers in the spring, we must take action. While everything is not yet over, we must take ownership of our world.
Students and faculty of Üsküdar University also took to the streets to revive the hope that has not yet completely faded, shouting for an end to violence against women and children. They promised that this world is ours and we will protect it to the end. They made a call to humanity, saying, "This world is ours, we want to live in it together in peace, tranquility, and love."
This world belongs to all people. To be human means to have reason, to have emotion. The cooperation of reason and emotion on the axis of goodness will be the salvation of humanity and the world.
We must give up being violence-loving and become human-loving. By integrating love for humanity with love for nature, we must make this world a place worth living in humanely once again.
