Not even frost can affect hopes...

When traveling from Köyceğiz towards the Gökova direction in the Ula district, there are citrus orchards, particularly dense on the right side of the road before reaching the Döğüşbelen neighborhood. It is a region that stands out especially for its fragrant clementine mandarins.

They say, "May God not let one lose their way." While usually said about people, this time it could be said for the spring season. And not just in any way. It is as if a flame has passed through; all the new and old shoots of the citrus trees have been burned and withered due to the frost. It is impossible not to be surprised and saddened. Not only this year's fruit but the fruit for the next year or two has turned to ash. It is not just in Köyceğiz's Döğüşbelen; frost has struck all of Turkey.

In short, the confusion of this year's spring has hit agriculture, the farmer, and the economy. What a spring it is. Turkish agriculture has suffered a major blow. The damage is immense. The government must take effective and sufficient measures. It should not gloss over this trauma with a few flowery statements.

The political crises that began with Ekrem İmamoğlu continue to shake Turkey both socially and economically. The recent frost events have added insult to injury regarding these negative developments. Turkey is experiencing a major economic loss. The CBRT has raised interest rates. In the last week, interest rates rose from 42.5% to 47.5%. This is a very significant increase. What is happening in the country has created an even greater negative psychological impact in the outside world. The potential negative atmosphere regarding tourism cannot be ignored either. Tourism is like the aorta of Turkey. If it tears, you can imagine the rest.

No matter how you look at it, there is a picture in Turkey that is heading toward pessimism. We are heading toward the summer months with the cost of living, poverty, and immorality, especially drugs, increasing day by day.

As if all these troubles were not enough, the Minister of National Education tripped up the education system just as the term was ending. It is a 100% red card offense. My brother, did you see this in a dream? How much time is left until June? What kind of logic is it to reassign thousands of teachers while our youth and children are experiencing exam anxiety? Has this issue never been discussed in the cabinet? Has no sensible minister stood up and said, "What are you doing?" I am speechless. Just as the frost hit agriculture, untimely teacher reassignments have hit education.

In this negative atmosphere that Turkey is experiencing, young people are going to sleep and waking up with plans to go abroad because they cannot see a glimmer of hope for their future. Last week, while returning from Ankara to Fethiye, I was a guest of a family in Afyon. A friend of ours who farms in the Çay district says, "There is nothing left called cherries." He lamented, "The frost dried them up and they melted away. We have no strength left to go to the orchards." He added, "Another impasse is our son. He is studying at university. He has one year left until graduation. He lives day and night with the dream of going abroad. We are very sad. With the frost on one side and our son on the other, we do not know what to do."

Every adversity has a remedy. What does İmamoğlu say? "There is no salvation alone. Either all together, or none of us."

There is no despair, dear friends. Together, we will overcome all these difficulties. "Everything will be beautiful".
