Trouble from crisis...

We are approaching August. Well, there is about 2 months left. At the beginning of August 1977, I married my wife, Esen Hanım. We are heading toward completing our 49th year and achieving a half-century of marriage.

A half-century sounds easy to say, but come and ask us about it.

What a husband I have been; the first separation was 2.5 years due to military service in Diyarbakır, followed by four years of living alone due to academic work and various duties at Harran University in Şanlıurfa. Then came the founding years of the Faculty of Medicine at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, and subsequently 7 years as a Member of Parliament in Ankara, totaling nearly 16 years of separation. One-third of those 49 years was spent apart. Almost every period meant not just separation, but a new crisis for the family.

In the remaining years, we always experienced crises, both small and large. There were days when we compromised, and days when we managed to cool down fights and crises by escaping from home, saying we were being called by the hospital or that there was a birth.

Problems with the children, the workplace, the private practice, and what happened in hospitals. Parents are a different kind of difficult; these were hard years spent with their whims, demands, and even resentments. There were times when grudges, hurts, and breakups peaked. If I were to count them or recall them, we have certainly lived through quite a few crises.

Crisis happens in every family; it has always happened. Is there any place where there is no crisis—on the street, at home, at work? Wherever there are two people, it means there is a crisis.

To me, crisis is the hot pepper of life. Spicy food increases metabolism in the human body. Even if some crises are painful, they are a socio-psychological state that leads to transformation and change in social life.

Crises do not only occur in marriage, family, or the workplace. A crisis, which we can call a depression or turmoil, describes a dangerous or tense period that disrupts the normal functioning of individuals, families, friendships, institutions, societies, or systems, sometimes emerging suddenly and requiring urgent intervention.

Beyond individual and psychological crises, there are also institutional ones.

Furthermore, one should not forget other types, such as financial crises or medical crises like heart attacks.

As in the example of the financial crisis experienced by the giant aircraft company in America, it can bankrupt companies and institutions. A heart attack, too, cuts a person off from life and kills them.

To prevent crises from turning into situations like chaos or death, early intervention is required.

For the CHP, the party of liberation and foundation with a history spanning over a century, early intervention is essential to ensure that the current crisis does not turn into chaos and that hopes for power do not fade.

There is a remedy for this. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who is senior in both age and leadership, must take the first step. The second most important step falls to my dear friend and comrade, Özgür Özel. If we are to grow hope and build the future together, this is a must. To defeat the plans of internal and external forces whose games are all built on fragmenting and destroying the CHP, the two Chairmen must come together. It is essential. With so many internal and external problems facing the country, a created chaos could lead to serious conflicts.

Please, come together; invite each other for a coffee. Even a single cup of coffee has a 40-year memory of friendship. There is definitely a solution. I believe that this meeting, holding hands again, and embracing on the path to power will happen.

Hoping to overcome crises and grow our hopes...
