Let us ask straight to the point: Can war be prevented by the ballot box?
In other words: Is the ballot box or an election the only antidote to war? Is it an antidote, or just a simple painkiller or aspirin?
We will return to this question, for which we have not sought an answer, later.
For one thing, there is this: No one believes that Iran is entering even a ceasefire process, let alone peace, with the aggressive US and Israel. Those who hold the reins in Europe, regardless of what they say, are certain that stopping the bloodshed in Iran and Gaza would ruin their plans. However, they are also afraid that social pressure in the Western world will spiral out of control. The signals of a new fascism are evident. Therefore, those who do not believe are right. Pinning hopes on a three- or five-day pause in weapons and massacres is synonymous with naivety.
The region is burning. They will burn it. Turkey is the key country of the region they will burn; we always say that this is the case. The Pax Americana, which seems to be on its last legs, unable to break the Iran-Turkey line, will breathe its last breath here. In other words, it will break itself. That is why they cannot pause the burning and destruction. That is why they are very dangerous.
So, our new normal is war.
We cannot claim that this is a very ambitious and creative finding. After all, many see it and write about it.
For some reason, war after war keeps breaking out in Turkey's neighbors and immediate surroundings. So much so that one feels like asking, "You have been at it since 1914; have you still not managed to divide this geography?"
It is probably clear who is involved in a war of partition.
Turkey is walking step by step toward a disaster in the hands of governments and oppositions that do not understand that they are near lands that are constantly changing hands and capital, and in that sense, are open to partition, and that eyes are upon them. It is more accurate to say it is being led there.
THE DANGER HAS TURNED INTO A DISASTER
Then, we are reminded of İlhan Selçuk's last great campaign in Cumhuriyet before he bid farewell to this world: "Are you aware of the danger?"
We have moved past the danger; we are now in the midst of the disaster.
Our new normal is disasters.
Our new normal is war.
Let us also name it and give it a birth date: Our "new normal," war, began with the 1989/90 turning point. Those who wish can start with the liquidation process of Yugoslavia and take a look at the arson in the immediate south and north of Turkey from there.
We have to find a root cause for this. Nothing comes to mind other than the open exploitation system called capitalism. Because we know: If there is no bloodshed, it means things are not going well in the free market economy and its democracy. The lands that will finance the West's wealth cannot be left without destruction.
We must have mentioned this before: The terrible inflation in the world financial system, every kind of "money," is actually an imaginary investment with no real backing. The established world order can only melt this inflation through an inflation-hyperinflation spiral and war. If a temporary "non-war" period was experienced for about 45 years after 1945, especially in Europe and its immediate surroundings, the reason for this was not "Western democracy" but the pressure created by the group of socialist states. That pressure or brake is no longer there. There is no peace movement. Therefore, the unsecured financial accumulation (inflation) in the casino capitalism that has reached incredible dimensions can easily be brought under control through wars and forms of inflation. That is what they are doing.
We know that some writers lead incredibly boring lives and can conjure up incredible adventures in their works. For example, not every writer is Ernest Hemingway. There are writers, painters, musicians, and cartoonists who live their greatest excitement in their kitchen at home during an argument with their wife (or husband) over the sugar they put in their coffee... The calmer their lives are, the more incredible adventures they can create in their works.
It is somewhat like this in the free market economy and its democracy, especially for the wealthy class: For the calm lives of the members of the wealthy class in their villas or mansions to continue, tremendous war scenes must take place in regions not too close to the center. No one should be surprised. After all, this class knows how to derive wealth from the chaos in the places it can exploit.
Without that chaos, destruction, blood, and pus, the unexciting villa lives they cannot get enough of would not exist either.
This was the American Peace (Pax Americana). It is now falling apart, which is why there is an upheaval in the world system, and the bill for this transformation is being passed on to the peoples in dependent countries.
DECEIVING WITH DEMOCRACY
That is why one must understand Donald Trump's Iran obsession as an ignorant, foul-mouthed rich man. If the region is not burned and destroyed, it is not possible for the 1% parasitic class to accumulate the wealth they have extorted from the 99% creative classes.
This is the weakness of the system. The deception called democracy breaks down at this point.
Iran's resistance could lead to fractures in some unexpected fault lines, and the ignorant American who tries to revive Pax Americana might lose what he already has while chasing after something else.
But we can say that this entire transformation will begin with the fractures in Turkey.
We cannot see this on the streets yet.
Let us repeat the initial question then: Is it the ballot box that prevents war?
It is not. The street, that is, the objection of the working millions, prevents war. They are the ones who are deceived, and they are the ones who start to object to, and even shout against, the bloody war games they have believed in, participated in, or at least turned a blind eye to for years; that is how war ends.
The ballot box can at most be the sealing of that decision.
Well, what shall we say to those who do not understand that they will drown the objection on the street with the ballot box and who call for constant elections? Are they doing it wrong? Is the ballot box not a chance for the working classes?
It is, but one must speak by looking at the place and the objective conditions.
In countries that have been "de-electionized," meaning where the ballot box serves no purpose other than to approve the existing exploitation system, does the ballot box not become the guarantor of "modern tyranny" or strange democracies that have turned into monarchism? We need to provide an explanation to those who think that war can be prevented only by the ballot box in an undeclared but experienced moderate Sharia order ("The Islamist order will gradually settle in here").
Are we aware of the disaster?
