Something is approaching, sure, but what kind of thing is it?

Is a "specter" haunting Europe again?

It depends on how you look at it.

If there is a specter in the Old Continent, it is the fascist movements that are currently gaining strength rapidly. They are on the threshold of political power.

In Italy, the descendants of fascism (Giorgia Meloni) are already in power. In France (Jordan Bardella), Austria (FPÖ), Germany (AfD), and the United Kingdom, which we call England (Nigel Farage), parties that flirt with a fascist past are consistently at the top of public opinion polls. If an election were held today, they would likely have the power to occupy the seat of government.

As we said, it depends on how you look at it.

If you are looking from the right or from the side of capital, you are facing a different picture.

At the beginning of June, in its first issue of the month, The Economist wrote that there is "a new stir on the left wing" and that "younger socialists want to reshape the economy with price controls, high wealth taxes and widespread nationalisations" ("How to fight back against Gen-Z socialism"). This traditional magazine, a direct mouthpiece for capital, also pointed out that voter preferences are rapidly shifting toward the "leftist" generation known as "Gen Z." It highlighted their anger toward Gaza, and so on. It mentioned figures like Zack Polanski, leader of the Green Party in the UK, or New York City Council member Zohran Mamdani as examples of socialism. It also added Jean-Luc Mélenchon in France...

Anyway...

It is doubtful that there is anything socialist going on, but it is so clear that other things will happen. It is very normal for them to think that this new wave must be prevented from turning into a tsunami. Since capital perceives socialism as a specter—and it is not entirely wrong, as socialism ultimately means the dispossession of property owners over the means of production—there is nothing more natural than their fear of it.

THE UNREPRESENTED LEFT

The problem is this: Do these names represent the left?

Can it be said that this "Gen Z" will dispossess property owners, or that they could, or that they will establish a planned economic system instead of the current neoliberal (mafioso) madness?

There is no such indication.

Perhaps what is happening is this: This Gen Z is being formed more by "alert" individuals groomed to counter the danger of mass movements—which might explode against impoverishment and initially have no such leftist insistence—veering out of control and seriously turning toward a socialist experience.

Let us look at ourselves.

After the AKP pushed the CHP into chaos through Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and his crew, we cannot say that we can be sure of anything; that is true. Is it possible that there are no people who think that reactions could turn into a flood, and that in the depths of the crisis, they could become mass movements that could even sweep away the lines of Özgür Özel and Ekrem İmamoğlu?

They are looking for precautions.

We can say that the precautions are aimed more at Özgür Özel and his companions than at Kılıçdaroğlu, because there is an incredible hatred among the public toward this team.

In other words, could the precaution be precisely this Özgür Özel and Ekrem İmamoğlu?

It seems so. Because no one sees the "elected CHP" members presenting an anti-capitalist program to society. Has any statement been made that they will unconditionally protect the interests of the 90 percent who live by their labor against this great impoverishment? Has a program been announced?

Has anyone announced that the privatizations experienced since September 12 will be subject to nationalization without compensation, and that society and the economy will be reorganized in line with a central plan to give the people of Turkey room to breathe? We are talking about the CHP members and even the DEM members.

How do they think they can give the people of Turkey—a population reaching 90 million—room to breathe without seizing the major financial institutions and the giant companies that are sucking the marrow out of Turkey?

It is understood that they will not even take serious tax measures.

The specter will be a derivative of this environment; the fear of Turkish and Kurdish the wealthy, that is, "big capital," is here.

IS IT A DREAM OR REALITY?

There will be those who say, "These are radical thoughts; it is impossible for a party that says such things to win at the ballot box in Turkey, and you cannot defeat the AKP at the ballot box with such theses."

They are not entirely wrong. Even if the AKP does not emerge from the ballot box, it is understood that a similar one, or even a "secret love" that appears to be its enemy, will emerge.

Why, you ask?

We know from history. And from a very recent history at that.

It is possible for all of Turkey's political and social accumulation to be overturned within a few days. Because the crisis is that deep. This society has never been this desperate. It might be possible to suddenly put into practice things that were never thought of or never settled in the mind.

We are not the first to say that solutions that have been waiting for decades will suddenly occupy the society's agenda within a few days.

Let us return to the beginning: We said a specter is coming, that is true, but capital is also taking its precautions. They probably think that they can continue to exploit the people of Turkey by bringing the "elected CHP members" to power, perhaps with a new party, even if it is not Kılıçdaroğlu.

If we look at the cadres, we cannot say that they are very unrealistic in these expectations. Well, the "populace" is also preparing.

There is only one thing that is not in the calculation: The "Republicans" who truly put progressive, socialist measures on the table!

If the crisis turns into a terrible turmoil, they could overturn this picture, flip the table, and bring the "liberation and reconstruction" program of the poor people and the enlightened, vigorous forces onto the stage.

However, anyone who only waits for elections cannot win any election. Anyone who wishes can look at Kılıçdaroğlu and the picture he created to see what a "ballot box dependency" without a program and without an alternative means.
