Sowing blood: European democracy is arming itself fiercely

Don't leave your news choices to an algorithm - decide for yourself what you read. Add 12punto to your preferred sources!

We are not entering May 1st with good news: Those who lean into rearmament inevitably make cuts in the country's social security sector, that is, they implement reforms. Everywhere...

This is now a law.

Let's see...

When we look, the first thing we see is this: Bitter truths are confronting those who expect democracy and peace from Europe, and those who sell the glorification of the European Union (EU) and the carrying of its flag as leftism. There is not yet an effective "mass of the governed" that has the intention to see this truth. Neither in the EU nor in Turkey...

What is happening?

New data has been announced: We learned that Germany and Europe—we could also call it "German Europe," which would be more accurate—have broken records in armament spending again last year. The numbers are truly ruthless. Is this state of madness a derivative of the goal of protecting the famous European democracy, or the goal of spreading this democracy even further? There is no answer to this question yet. Even if there were, we rarely encounter it in the mainstream media anyway.

But the world is truly arming itself like crazy.

At the beginning of the week, the famous research institution SIPRI released its 2025 breakdown. A total of 2.9 trillion dollars in armament spending showed that the world has achieved a 2.9 percent increase in this sector compared to 2024. We can call this a bitter truth or a plain truth. These are numbers that annoy all kinds of "anomalists," that is, democrats or liberals. It is annoying because it takes the mask off their faces...

Moreover, the Trump numbers do not seem capable of reversing this annoyance.

Of course, the US and the Trump administration also increased their armament spending last year, but this was a lower increase than that of Europe and the ambition within European democracy.

GERMANY'S ROLE

The numbers are clear: In 2025, the great power that concerns Turkey primarily within the world system, Federal Germany, has armed itself with a 24 percent increase compared to the previous year: We are facing an item of 114 billion dollars. It is fourth in the world rankings.

While the other armies of democratic Europe were producing weapons with a 14 percent increase, the leading state, Germany, realized a 24 percent increase. The shadow of this will somehow fall upon Turkey as well.

Another bitter truth must be underlined: The world's and the US's ignorant religious leader is blamed for every calamity, true, but because he trimmed "arms aid" in Ukraine, the growth rate of armament on a global scale also turned out to be low. We know the results of the madness in Europe. If one result of Europe's insistence on wanting war in Ukraine and officially provoking it is the whipping up of militarism internally, another result is the increase in poverty and cuts in social spending.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's loss of great prestige and support must be related to these, as he felt the need to draw a line between himself and Donald Trump during the week with statements that were not expected of him. This move should be read in conjunction with the news of savings in the social security system, especially the news that health insurance funds will make cuts to the detriment of the poor millions and that these will be legislated. Merz is looking for a place. Because the fascistic AfD is now both in first place in the polls and has started to leave the Christian Democrats (CDU and CSU) in the dust. Militarization and armament, as is known, have always been financed through cuts in social rights from the market economy. We see the results. There is much more we will see.

TRUMP AND UKRAINE CUTS

The increase in armament spending on a global scale was 9.7 percent in 2024 compared to the previous year. In 2025, this growth rate has been determined to be only 2.9 percent.

Why?

As we mentioned above, because spending in the US fell by 7.5 percent when the Trump administration cut arms support to Ukraine. If the Trump administration were to declare success in this sector now, it wouldn't be entirely unjustified. But there is no one to stop Europe; it keeps sowing war, that is the problem.

Indeed, SIPRI data shows that the leading day of militarist madness is "German Europe." In this political geography, which is called the cradle of democracy, total military spending increased by 14 percent compared to the previous year. This shows that total military budgets have reached 864 billion dollars. In particular, the military spending of NATO members in Europe has realized a 23.9 percent increase compared to 2024, reaching 559 billion dollars. Sowing war is something like this.

The part that concerns us specifically is Germany. Because Germany is the leading country of this armament. The 114 billion dollar budget corresponds to a 24 percent jump compared to 2024.

Berlin is targeting a 150 billion dollar military budget in 2029. Let us not pass without mentioning it to compare the numbers: In this latest report, Turkey has entered the list in 18th place as the owner of 30 billion dollars in military spending. The distance between it and Germany is clear.

Well, don't all these numbers, let alone the others, also signal that a massive social scythe ("reform") will be organized in Germany?

"Financing democracy" must be something like this. We could also call it "financing the arms industry"...

But this financing will be pregnant with very heavy consequences. We are heading towards a social breakdown everywhere. For now, this is a path without socialism. If there is anyone expecting democracy from the EU, let us have warned you. There is nothing here that you think there is, and there is only a "democracy convoy" equipped with atomic weapons moving from 1913 towards 1914; I wonder if you are aware?

As of May 1, 2026, this is the situation.

Happy holiday to our working class, happy to everyone.
