War is not an Oscar-worthy film on a red Persian rug

War is not an Oscar-worthy film on a red Persian rug; it is reality now!

War is also something other than defeating the opposing side on a green field... It has never had a winner; humanity has lost once again. Like Messi scoring an own goal. All the spectators felt the defeat.

And we, all of us, are spectators in such a world...

Should we watch a war film that passes over the red carpet and slips through the stars, or should we face the stars falling from missiles dispersing in the air in “lands far, far away”…

Which film should we watch today?

While the United States was bombing Iran, it was also hosting the Oscar ceremony on the same night.

This must be what they call division of labor and specialization (!)

No matter which screen you look at, stars are flying through the air!

The irony of the world continues:

6 Oscars, including Best Picture, go to the film “One Battle After Another,” which offers a current critique by saying “justice cannot be achieved through violence.” In the documentary category, a film against Putin, “Mr. Nobody Against Putin,” is deemed worthy of an award.

We applaud… ‘Life goes on,’ or in their words, ‘The show must go on’…

Life continues between our identities and our dehumanizations...

A film starring a Palestinian actor can compete for an Oscar, but the actor cannot attend the ceremony because he is Palestinian.

“A human being is not valued as much as a film they star in,” I say.

“Or are you not happy that we nominated ‘The Voice of Hind Rajab’?” says a voice from the outside, then adds:

“Are you one of those protest consumers we can never satisfy? What can we do for you?”

“Peace!” I say, softly, as if muttering in a dream…

“We are sorry, we, the land of the free, are not as open-minded and free as the Prime Minister of Spain these days. Perhaps your budget is not enough to be this happy. How about a little more effort?”

It frightens me that he stands right beside me without being bothered at all by my protest looks and without abandoning his “happiness-distributing” demeanor; I reach out my hand, and my fingers pass through a hologram…

Suddenly, I think of the employees in every small or large store in New York who, when I reach the checkout counter, ask if I am happy with my shopping experience and offer me “happiness” along with the product…

Then the white-faced old woman who says “I love the color of your scarf” as she passes me on the sidewalk… A happy Latin American person whose eyes light up while waving from the opposite sidewalk, signaling that we have the same brand of stroller…

For some, a “land of small happinesses”

Voices are rising from Spain, which discovered the continent of small happinesses and deep wounds:

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez represents a stance against war and manages to utter those two simple words: No to War!

While Sánchez says “No to War” in the language of those who started the war, missiles are still speaking instead of diplomacy on the 19th day of the war.

“Technology and the world grow with war,” says an old machine that has given up its soul. It continues to explain how the world has developed after such great wars...

Do you still have any curiosity about how far ‘inhumanity’ and ‘lack of conscience’ can go?

Future aside; these days, many of us have the old days on our tongues... This is nothing more than longing for a personal past. We miss the old world amidst all these developments.

The old world that was predictable, controllable, familiar, and where, whether it existed or not, there was at least a little belief in “conscience”…

The new world is slipping out of our control and attempting to take us under its control.

A giant emerges from the screen in our hands, like a ‘stealth’ aircraft, without being caught on our radar:

“There it is, the black box has been solved,” it says, “humanity is now in my palms!”

In defiance of the unpredictability of the future and the path technology takes in its effort to predict humans; humans, with all their unpredictable defense mechanisms regarding humanity, add a new ‘black box’ inside themselves for every lock that is opened, and protect themselves again with their unpredictability…

Humans also possess words that databases, artificial intelligence, and algorithms have not yet heard, and powers they have not yet foreseen; conscience is waiting to rise up one day…

Like a reverse discovery, the world will return to humanity that day…

Life will go on…

Like the Spaniards’ rediscovery of America, the world will discover ‘peace’ for the umpteenth time.

Then everyone will say, “Peace at home, peace in the world...”
