“There is no real ending. It’s just the place where you stop the story.”
Frank Herbert
“I am not oppositional enough for the opposition channels…
I am not silent, submissive, or blind to injustice enough for the pro-government channels…
I tried to do this job by considering the public interest, as impartially as possible, and with respect for every segment of society. But you must admit, for people like us, this situation doesn’t really ‘pay’…
In other words, ‘If you don’t take a side, you get cast aside.’
I spent my career—which includes radio broadcasting in 1993, 7 years at NTV starting in 2001, 2.5 years at FOX TV, 4 years as a news program host at CNNTurk, and hosting programs at TRT Haber, Haber Global, and Tv8—with beautiful memories, learned experiences, and, I hope, friendships…
I have always believed in my own potential, my hard work, and my discipline… I made mistakes, and perhaps I hurt people knowingly or unknowingly…
I thank them all very much… I hope they grant me their forgiveness. Mine is freely given to them.
To be honest, with all this accumulation and talent, I was still buzzing with excitement about producing again…
Life is full of infinite possibilities… And there are always new beginnings…
Perhaps the bottom of my life is better than the top. Perhaps it’s all about how you look at it… ”
These lines flowed out of me on May 30, 2023. A little resentful, perhaps a bit hurt…
But stubbornly hopeful…
Sometimes, as the trendy phrase goes, you need to “Go with the flow.”
And that’s what I did. I let it flow. As a control-freak woman, it wasn’t easy at all.
I started writing in 2008. At 29, a new mother, constantly struggling like a fish out of water… Bumping into things left and right while struggling… Finding healing in writing…
While finding healing for myself, I saw that others were also finding relief in my writing, and my journey continued with this enthusiasm.
I also created my legacy with three books.
I had just forgotten about it. I had let myself go with the flow when Mustafa Büyüksipahi said, “Come on, it’s time.”
There are 15 years between the first piece I wrote and today.
There are countless paths.
There is plenty of falling and starting over, each time making you say, “This is the last time.”
Back then, I was a rookie girl building her career in Istanbul, still afraid, often surprised; now, there is a woman in another country who is a bit older, still afraid but having realized that fear is of no use against fate, and having grasped that what you call a career is actually something that melts away like cotton candy.
She is still surprised. But she is more ashamed. When watching the news, when watching people, she hasn’t lost the ability to feel shame for others, the ability to blush.
And she has realized that all of this and more is much more important than a “career.”
For now, we will talk about life here together every Friday. Sometimes angry, sometimes sad, sometimes full of laughter. But without letting go of hope.
Writing regularly is a matter of discipline. The act of writing has a memory. So do your muscles… I am redefining that memory for my muscles. It hurts a bit at first. Then you can’t stop!
Hello, old friend.
Greetings to new friends…
Every Friday, there is “Life” on 12 Punto…
