Eskişehir's 'Science of the Face' and its glittering gold

Do not look for mathematical algorithms, numerical data, functions, hypotheses, theories, equations, equalities, or proofs.

From a technical perspective, I cannot even say that it has any significant value.

It is the art of "face reading." It was used during the Chinese, Babylonian, and Mesopotamian periods.

It is often said that it was also used in our country during the reign of Abdulhamid. The hands, feet, eyes, and ears of candidates for the position of 'iç oğlan' (page) to work in the Enderun at the palace were examined by experts in the science of physiognomy.

The film tells the story of a thermal power plant planned to be built in Efeköy by an international company and its local “front” partners, where decent, radiant-faced, sincere, nature-loving people who want to protect trees and are environmentally friendly are labeled as collaborators and turned into enemies, while the villagers who tell the truth and warn their neighbors are dismissed and excluded as being “extreme.” 

It lays bare how those who want to protect their people, nature, environment, and state are marginalized and how they are sought to be brought into line with the state's stick. 

Thank God there are judges, and at the end of the film, a “stay of execution” ruling is issued, and the thermal power plant that would have spewed poison is abandoned.

If only the people and officials of İliç, Erzincan had watched this film.

If only it hadn't given away its beautiful lands for small kickbacks.

They wanted to build the same thermal power plant in Eskişehir as well. In the middle of the Alpu Plain, a grain storehouse, the municipality, together with the people of Alpu, did everything in its power to stop the planned power plant and coal mine, and successfully obtained a stay of execution.

In the same way, Mihalgazi and Sarıcakaya the project planned for the region the Gold and Silver Mine project was once again cancelled by the court, thanks to the efforts of city officials and the local public. 

The fact that the people of Eskişehir possess 'Perfect Reason' and common sense, that they have administrators who take science as their guide, that they have not permitted high-rise buildings for years, and that they have reduced zoning in areas like Batıkent—which previously allowed 15 stories—to 3-4 stories, has prevented them from experiencing the 'urban bankruptcy' problem that other cities are facing.

March 31 is a turning point for the continuation of my gains.

The city, which is far ahead of other cities in every aspect and which they have protected, 

will it continue to protect it?

There are more mayoral candidates than I can count.

It might be difficult to decide.

Let me suggest a path for the citizens.

They can decide by looking at the facial features of the mayoral candidates and performing a competency analysis. 

They will understand who is 'good' and who is 'better'.

Which candidate is on the side of the people, nature, and the city, and which ones are not.

They can easily understand.

They should not look at what the candidates are saying. 

They should look at the nobility of the lines of experience that the years have etched onto their faces.

They should examine the facial features formed by the light in their hearts.

They should look for the dimples of kindness created by the world of thought in their minds.

They should look for lines of compassion. 

They should pay attention not to the details created by fierce competition and ambition, but to the details of mercy created by solidarity.

They should turn down the volume of the television.

They should just watch.

Shaped over the years by a philosophy of life, 

At the forehead structure,

At the jaw structure,

Between the eyes and the mouth, 

At the cheekbones,

At the lips,

Let them look.

Who "high-energy black diamond is lying underground for free" 

by saying this, they will violate the land; who will protect them?

Who will prioritize their personal interests, and who will prioritize the interests of their people and their city?

Who will walk the streets of Cyprus, and who will walk the streets of Eskişehir?

Who will defend the interests of their companies, and who will defend their city?

Who will turn their city into a concrete pile, and who will defend organic life?

Who will increase the zoning rights of their own plots, and who will improve 

the economy of their citizens?

Who will plunder their city, and who will stop them?

Who will chase incentives for their companies, and who will chase incentives for their city?

As I write these lines, news of the cyanide-related mining disaster in İliç, Erzincan, is constantly playing on television. 

It immediately brings to mind our famous professor who supports miners and considers those who oppose them to be idiots as well.

Anyway,

The cyanide pond has burst.

The soil has been poisoned with cyanide.

People are missing.

Animals are dying in agony.

Toxic water is moving toward the Keban Dam and the Euphrates River.

People are praying that it does not reach the Harran Plain.

10 million cubic meters, 16 million tons of cyanide-laced soil. 

None of those who claim that cyanide is harmless and that it exists in nature  

dare to even approach the landslide area out of fear.

According to reports, those living in İliç and those concerned with the matter were somehow persuaded in exchange for not opposing cyanide.

Another election has arrived.

Will the people of Eskişehir, be persuaded in some way by stories of "Glittering Gold" or "High-Energy Black Diamond"? What should the people of Eskişehir do?

They know best, of course, but I will offer an idea nonetheless.

They should make their choices by looking at the facial features and countenances of the candidates.
