12 Punto is, above all, a valuable construction by journalists who act with a sense of responsibility toward the public.

At the same time, 12 Punto is a platform that is completely impartial, Kemalist, respectful of Republican values, and stands with leftist values, human rights—in short, it stands with you, me, us, and humanity.

I would also like to express my great happiness in being a part of 12 Punto, which brings all these values together under one roof.

With my articles to be published every Friday on 12 Punto, I plan to contribute to Turkey having a more independent judiciary, the rule of law, and increasing public awareness in this direction.

However, as someone who was previously a judge and public prosecutor, and is now a lawyer and lecturer, I will also meet with you, our valued readers, regarding legal issues that come to the fore in society.

As is known, the judiciary has a structure that is highly suitable for being used as an effective tool in intervening in social problems and determining the fate of political conflicts. For this reason, political powers have always been very eager to use the judiciary for their own programs, goals, or calculations.

It is precisely when the judiciary is instrumentalized and, moving away from its actual goal of justice, becomes politicized that serious distortions occur within the judiciary. In short, political judiciary means the use of the judiciary for political pressure and liquidation purposes without adhering to the applicable legal rules.

This problem is more visible in the field of criminal law. Because when criminal law is instrumentalized and a repressive understanding of criminal law becomes dominant, it becomes easier to target and suppress opposition segments or civil society organizations in society.

Contrary to popular belief, the politicization of the judiciary does not only happen in totalitarian regimes. The existence of repressive criminal law practices, or in other words, enemy criminal law practices, is also observed in non-totalitarian regimes.

In these articles of mine, I will frequently cover the decisions made in Turkey by a politicized judiciary that, in recent years, have been no less severe than enemy criminal law practices.

With my legal identity spanning nearly thirty years, if I have information that a court, while making its decision, is referencing the sovereign or official ideology or state reason rather than law and justice, I will criticize this court decision in these aspects and draw attention to politicized judicial decisions.

My goal is to contribute to increasing the society's awareness of law and justice while simultaneously warning the public about court decisions that have strayed from justice.
